At home with CA Designed 1955: #ZellaEckelsMaggraf's enamel on copper work. The artist (1910-2008) grew up in a small, farming community in Ohio, later moving to LA where she taught and exhibited her works alongside the likes of #RupertDeese, #PeterVoulkos and other #mcm artists.
#YoungIlAhn, an extraordinary contemporary artist and dear friend died at the age or 86 on Sunday. His large-scale abstractions of the ocean and musicians illuminate the full spectrum of light, sound and color he experienced in his life. 🌊 💙
Pat Berger's Beach People (1964) depicts the stark realities of a SoCal beach community on the verge of economic despair and the civil rights movement. The work won a purchase award from the Ford Foundation in 1964 and Berger selected LBMA for its permanent home. #MuseumFromHome
