On the 10th of April we received a video of a dog lying on the middle of the road and close to death. He had been hit by a car and for almost 12 days he was left untreated. His wound was infested with maggot’s and being so weak he was no longer able to move. A good soul applied some powder, but he was still left there on that road. Luckily someone called the foundation and we had him picked up immediately. He spent 10 days at the hospital where his wound was healing, but due to B canis tick fever his haemoglobin had dropped to 3!!!!! He needed a blood transfusion immediately and luckily one of our dogs Gungun was a match. After the transfusion his haemoglobin went up to 8 and is steadily on the rise. We’ve named him Kheera and his recovery is an absolute miracle!!! He’ll stay with us till his wound is healed, tick fever gone and a healthy haemoglobin count. @akoifoundation

BREAKING: The first 300 Ridglan beagles touched grass for the first time today. They stepped outside and looked up at the sun. Many are playful. Some are scared. All are learning the world can be safe. Today, they are free.
