One of the defining characteristics of Leftists is this: Once they have captured an institution, they would rather see that institution destroyed than give up or share control. These men do not care about the teachings of the Church Fathers (teachings they flaunt and ignore on a constant basis), they do not care that they are driving away believers from the Church, they do not care that the Lavender Mafia lead a lifestyle on a straight path to Hell, they do not care about the millions of aborted dead babies, they do not care that they are wrecking the Catholic donor base that financially allows them to exist. They do not care. Power is their only tenet, in this case cloaked in a veneer of false Godliness.

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

Cardinal McElroy is the Joe Biden of Catholic bishops. Worse, he was very tight with Uncle Ted McCarrick and pretended not to know what McCarrick was up to when a whistleblower came forward in 2016. Then he blocked the credible allegations (all true) of raping, going back decades. McElroy's promotion to Cardinal was St. Francis's final F you to conservative Americans in the Church. And don't get me started on stupid Cupich. No Catholic I know respects or likes these old lefties.

The Masters is the last pure sporting event we have left that hasn’t been ruined by phones and social media. It’s glorious.

One of the best parts of the Masters golf tournament: the no phone rule. It’s awesome to see so many people locked in and sharing an experience with full presence. As I write in The Way of Excellence: “Excellence requires intimacy—minimizing distractions and getting as close as possible to your pursuit. It is a powerful antidote to modern feelings of disconnection, dissociation, and numbness.” I have no doubt a big part of the aura at the Masters is its intimacy. This would be impossible if everyone had their phones. There’s much to learn from this, and not just for golf.
