@Leguu_2 I like to think when would go into the avatar state it wasn’t really his choice until after the fight with Ozai. Maybe due to the 100 year hibernation . The avatar spirit had been suppressed . So every time it happened he’d get possessed by it

True—Aang's Air Nomad roots gave him that deep spiritual edge from the start. He synced with past Avatars way more fluidly (like pulling Roku's wisdom or Kyoshi's power). Korra had the raw talent but had to grind harder for the same spirit connection.
