@norchcity @DHE_teach My son is fed up of lessons being disrupted. Just waiting on Ofsted report but rumour is Head successfully appealed a 3. So disappointed, as feel will be no change, as SLT ‘hid’ issues. Culture needs changing completely from honest starting point. Feel sorry for the teachers.

I was equally against the system pre the change, when only working class were impacted. We’re lucky, husband has PLR. I can still have empathy 4 others not so lucky. Others don’t have that option, so are looking at around 9 months apart from children or life permanently separate from grandparents. This is not the sign of a civilised country. As I say, hope ur loved ones are never forced into picking

You have option a) British citizen lives in UK for 6 months separate from family to get wage slips, plus spends more months applying. With young children this is a ‘no‘ or b) sell house to get base cash amount, be w/o home 4 months & pray visa is successful

Friend who grew up in north of England, moved temp to Oz to have a turn living near her family but simply can’t return as wages in NE are too low for threshold & 9 months apart from kids is not feasible.

The reality of that is a decision - do you live apart from your children for 6 months or do you sell your house and hope you can find somewhere to live and hope it was worth selling the house to get the visa.
