A wintry mix is falling across Louisville Metro. Crews are actively salting dedicated snow routes.

If you must drive, slow down, allow extra time, leave plenty of space between vehicles, and give crews room to work. ❄️

I want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to our Snow Team.
This drone video captures our crews performing an echelon on Preston Highway- a coordinated snow-removal formation where multiple plows work side-by-side to clear several lanes at once and safely push snow off the roadway.
Our Snow Team has been working around the clock, logging more than 125 hours by Tuesday afternoon alone. They’ve pushed through harsh conditions and long, demanding shifts to keep our dedicated snow routes clear and safe.
This work is tough, critical, and often happens while the rest of the city is able to stay safely at home. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, teamwork, and grit.

Louisville Metro continues to work closely with a contracted partner who has committed to staying with us through tomorrow morning to support ongoing snow response efforts. Their crews are assisting with select streets outside of our dedicated snow routes.
At this time, that additional support is focused on roads that help residents access medical facilities, pharmacies, schools, grocery stores, major employment hubs, and other essential destinations, which is an important part of maintaining community mobility during and after this storm.
We do want to help manage expectations. Even with this added contractor support, we will not be able to reach every local road that is not part of Louisville Metro’s snow routes or maintained by a home rule city or homeowners association.

Good morning, Louisville.
Thank you for staying home and listening to our warnings. Our crews worked through the night and made a lot of progress, but there are still slick spots across the community.
This morning, I helped someone who was stuck at an intersection, a good reminder that if you can stay home today, please do. We’ll continue working all day to keep things moving.
Thank you for doing your part while we work to keep everyone safe.

Snow Team Update: We’ve made great progress since the snow stopped falling and expect to make additional strides this afternoon. Please stay off the roads if you can while crews continue clearing streets.

All of our Snow Team members go above and beyond in times like this, but I want to take a moment to recognize two who truly went the extra mile during this storm.
While out working, Zack Lewis, a Snow Team driver, came across a motorist who was unconscious. Zack immediately called it in, and our dispatcher, Clarissa Lamar, called 911 to make sure the motorist received help and was transported to the hospital.
I’m incredibly thankful for both of them. Moments like this show the kind of people we have working around the clock in Metro Government- caring for our neighbors and helping keep our community safe.

UPDATE: We've received word that power has been restored to residents in the Fairdale area.

Hey Louisville,
Please continue to stay off the roads. Even after we plow, new snow covers them again, and we won’t be able to fully clear everything until the snowfall stops. We’ll have another briefing at 2 p.m. with updates on our progress.
Remember, it will stay dangerously cold, with wind chills below zero. National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold warning through Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. Stay warm, stay safe, and stay tuned for updates.

❄️ Snow Team Update ❄️
Most snow routes have been plowed, and crews continue salting. Sleet and snow are creating hazardous conditions.
Please stay off the roads if you can. If you must travel, take it slow.
