What's worse? Losing in court to Afroman, or trying to convince a jury that people think your wife slept with Afroman?

The ex-wife of Officer Shawn Grooms, who sued Afroman, testified that the song did not ruin her marriage. Her ex-husband did.

This is #Oakland. I love this town. My feelings for this place are irrational. A Lake Merritt poet once described Oakland to me as being "a beautiful woman in an old, tattered dress." I think it was an understatement. Like I said...irrational. The best kind of love usually is.

Afroman, best known for his 2000 hit song, “Because I Got High,” won a defamation lawsuit on Thursday filed by seven Ohio sheriff’s deputies. The saga begun over a 2022 raid on Afroman’s home, legal name Joseph Foreman, by the Adams County, Ohio Sheriff’s office. The raid was part of a drug and kidnapping investigation according to the original warrant. Nothing illegal was found in the musician’s home, and no charges were filed. Foreman subsequently alleged that the officers vandalized his home, and stole money. In response to the raid, Foreman released a series music videos featuring his home security footage of the raid. The footage included one notable moment where an officer paused to look at a pastry on Foreman’s kitchen counter. That inspired the most popular song of bunch, ‘Lemon Pound Cake.’ The sheriff’s deputies said they were publicly harassed in the wake of the video series release, and sought nearly $4 million in damages. The case sparked conversations around the constitutional right to free speech and the limits of parody, which Foreman noted in an Instagram video after he emerged victorious, stating, “We did it America! Freedom of speech! Right on!”

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen on the internet. Afroman had his house raided by Ohio Adam County deputies… who found absolutely nothing… broke his door, trashed his place, allegedly had $400 go missing… and then they refused to pay for the damages. So, like any reasonable rapper would do… He turned his home security footage into music videos, mocking them. And then, the deputies sued him for FOUR MILLION dollars… because they didn’t like being made fun of. And Afroman’s response? He dropped ANOTHER music video. In his own words: “Unconfidential informant lied to Police to get out of some trouble. Adam County Sherriff officers made a mistake by believing the lie. Raided my house, found nothing, refused to pay for the damages and filed a lawsuit against me, Afroman, for exercising my freedom of speech! This is me holding trial in one song. I hope you enjoy it.” They said his videos “ridiculed” them… so he decided to show them what that actually looks like. And the best part? A jury basically said… yeah… you don’t get to raid someone’s home, end up in their surveillance footage, and then cry because they used it to make fun of you.

#Curling has long been marketed as the gentleman’s discipline of the Winter Games, precision, etiquette, mutual respect. When a Canadian player at the Winter Olympics 2026 responds to an accusation with “fuck off,” the issue is not the profanity. It’s the fracture between brand and behavior. #Canada positions itself as custodian of sportsmanship, the moral high ground of winter sport. But the Olympic Spirit, as envisioned by Pierre de #Coubertin and embedded in the #Olympic Charter, rests on three pillars: excellence, respect, friendship. Respect is not conditional on being believed. If the stone was clean, composure would have been the stronger reply. If the accusation stung, that is precisely when character is tested. The interesting question isn’t whether Canada won the match. It’s whether the reaction matched the spirit the maple leaf claims to represent.
