Imagine FA CUP final.. half time. 4 or 5 GB sprinters vs 4 or 5 of fastest footballers. Length of pitch. Bring a big sponsor on board example 2 mil £ from pepsi. Each competitor gets £100k + it’s a win win & showcases our talent. Our sport needs more respect + money + promotion

Making sure someone “feels good” is an underrated aspect of prepping for a game. Not always about peak jump height or bar velocity - no aches and pains and just plain feeling good is well… a good thing

As coaches, we need to start celebrating greater efforts in #recovery with the same enthusiasm that we celebrate greater effort in training.

Large volumes (1000-1200m) of alactic anaerobic capacity (60-80m with incomplete recovery) has for many years been a staple in our program at this time of the year

Preparation isn’t just about the teaching part of coaching in what will be done and how but the selling part of engaging learners from the start to be actively involved physically and mentally and at the end leaving them excited and hungry to learn more

@sprintcoachSWE I've already done this exercice but I pushed the hips harder and harder till the athlete collapse (about 6sec), only one time each side before a speed session. Good activation of the posterior chain 👌🏼

Rest & recovery is necessary but only of benefit if you first do the work. I am fearful that today we have a generation of over-recovered and undertrained athletes so overly mindful of training load that they are not doing enough to stimulate adaptation and prevent injury.

The coach’s purpose is not about giving ownership of development and performance to the athlete: It is to lead the process for the athlete to take ownership

Personality is how you respond on a typical day. Character is how you show up on your worst day. It's easy to demonstrate fairness, integrity, and generosity when things are going well. The real question is whether you stand by those values when the deck is stacked against you.

As a coach you must create an effective tension for your athlete’s development. It’s like getting the high wire tension right for the artiste. The tension is created between support and challenge. Too much of either compromises progress. Effective tension is about judgement

Ok… now we are getting closer to the reality… This is a video of the « 9.84 » race. I am not judging the reaction time… I take the first movement -0.12 and I get… ca. 10.3!! If I assume the 2nd of the race had really 11.09 then Alex ran 10.3 at the best!
