@Masterllc2001 @USFMBB @USFAthletics @CoachBHodgson I will give you that we are a bit of a lack luster fair weather fan base in ALL sports but the winning will build the atmosphere as we have seen. Also campus seems sterile at times with lack of communal energy, but I think The USF Fletcher District and OCS will change that

@SSN_USF Agreed. I kept saying Wes looked all out of sorts in that game. He wasn’t there mentally. I’m not blaming him. As a coach he has a responsibility to make sure he and his players are focused. He let the noise in and it ultimately led to a one and done in the tournament.
English

If he didn't tell the team on Friday he was leaving and decided to stay at USF we would be in the Sweet 16

Joe Tipton@JoeTipton
Hodgson had multiple opportunities this cycle. Providence was one that offered strong NIL backing. He informed his South Florida team on Friday that he’d be taking a new job, ultimately choosing the Friars. One of the fastest-rising coaches in the sport.
English

@SOFLBULLS @USFMBB @USFAthletics @CoachBHodgson If I had to guess I don’t think he liked the basketball atmosphere at USF. He wants basketball to be the focal point. He didn’t seem really happy at USF. It was a job for the moment. Hopefully Providence gives him what he is looking for otherwise he will be on the move again…
English

@Masterllc2001 @USFMBB @USFAthletics @CoachBHodgson I just don't see the move as big enough upgrade to make a move, could we not counter the offer with all this supposed money?

@SOFLBULLS @USFMBB @USFAthletics @CoachBHodgson 😂😂 hey you said what I wanted to but I tried to sugar coat my disappointment
English

@NancyCarrow @TorelloSports This was the same guy saying don’t poach my players but he was being poached 😂. Can’t make this up.
English

@TorelloSports I was told a week ago Friday (3/13) that he had already signed with Providence.
English

@TorelloSports @paquette_jim Correct it’s half of the 2 million because Kelly left for navy.
English

@paquette_jim I believe it’s $1 million.
Either way not a hard pill for Hodgson or PC when you are talking $10.5-$12 million in NIL.
English

There is a ceiling though. Eventually his short tenures will work against him. Why should a university hire someone who is afraid to actually lead a program? You can’t really evaluate his recruiting because he is never in one place long enough. You can’t really evaluate how he deals with adversity because he runs. Soon he will be damaged goods. His own doing
English

It shouldn't shock anyone that Coach H is leaving after just one season, especially given his recent success and the fact that he left ASU after only two. He’s incredibly driven, and looking at his track record, he clearly operates with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove. Honestly, if I were in his shoes with no deep ties to the program, a fresh championship under my belt, six graduating seniors, and an uncertain roster ahead I’d make the exact same move.
English

@DoctorSoFlo 😂 I’m not being nice to Coach H. He getting the same treatment as Golesh. I hope Providence and Auburn suck for the foreseeable future 🙂
English

@willydgtg901 @USF_GreenNgold This is correct. We are a football first athletic department. There just isn’t much money left to be competitive when it comes to basketball offers against major schools
English

@USF_GreenNgold Operating budget ≠ not equal NIL
USFs basketball NIL is probably 3-4x smaller than Providence considering they have to pay for football
English

South Florida had almost 9 M this year in NIL money and Providence will have roughly 12 M in NIL money next season (assuming both tweets are correct)
We will be fine, the investment is there. I trust Higgins to make another strong hire.

Here is a breakdown of the American Conference data @MattBrownEP listed for Men's Basketball budgets for FY25. #FAU in at #6 in the middle log jam 🪵🪵🪵

That was staged Ms Peggy. Why you think Congress didn’t even investigate? The leader of the free world is cheering the death of a man who served his country honorably. Nobody should be defending the president on this. He was better off saying nothing. Unfortunately his narcissistic personality will not allow him to.
English

@CalltoActivism How did you behave when Trump was almost assassinated?
Did you say "damn, they missed"?
What about Charlie Kirk?
Did you cheer because he was "hateful and racist" and applaud the teachers smearing fake blood on their necks and celebrating?
Mueller was a traitor.
No sympathy here
English

@__C_A_R_L___ @DoctorSoFlo High point is not a better job. I would support this hire
English

@TampaBay92033 @CoachBHodgson I have every right to voice my opinion. I support everything USF with time and monies. So don’t tell me to be happy and move on. I will say what I gotta say and you can keep scrolling. Thank you in advance.
English

@Masterllc2001 @CoachBHodgson Holy yap. College coaches come and go we’re not at the level where we can keep coaches forever be happy for what he accomplished and move on.
English

He isn’t from RI. Calling Providence a better job is definitely subjective. I think the ppl who support usf athletics do deserve an explanation. I’m not saying it’s needs to come directly from him but leadership has a responsibility. He signed a 6 year contract with USF to lead the program. He did not come close to honoring his contract.
English

@Masterllc2001 @CoachBHodgson Providence is a better basketball job. He’s from there. He has every right to take a better job. Do you need more explanation?
English

We need commitment to continuity and longevity for any coach they hire. The pressure is on leadership to do better in interviewing and vetting these potential hires. If they are not willing to commit to usf for long term then why should us fans continue to support USF athletics. I personally spend my hard earned money giving and supporting usf. I expect everyone from the top down to do their job.
English

Seeing a lot of South Florida fans frustrated that the program will be on its fifth coach in five years. It’s frustrating, I get that. But USF has tremendous leadership that made some really strong hires in recent years.
Mid-Major Basketball@midmajorball
After days of rumors, South Florida coach Bryan Hodgson is finalizing a deal to be the next Providence coach. Great hire but a big loss for the Bulls, who he guided to an American title and NCAA Tournament appearance this year.
English

@Mudituh @CoachBHodgson Yes give me the box please. My bracket was busted last night 😫
English

@USFfan2 @CoachBHodgson I’m not sure what you are saying. I never said AAR would leave. I only mentioned him because he was genuine in everything that he said and did. He led by example
English

@kaybouttelover @CoachBHodgson Providence is not a p5 school though. It does not have a football program. Therefore they are not considered a P5 school.
English

@Masterllc2001 @CoachBHodgson Buddy in Basketball the Big East is a P5 conference.
English

@Brady19murray @kaybouttelover @CoachBHodgson Again you mentioned P5 but have zero understanding of what P5 schools are and what they have in common.
English

I’m saying it’s deeper than just coming in with your players and winning. For me, as a supporter of all USF Athletics, it’s about building a program. That including instilling a winning culture, building trust and commitment, building and leaving a legacy. You can’t do those things in a year. You are pointing to a conference championship. The expectation from USF athletics, fans and alumni should be bigger than that. Build the culture and that starts at the top and the hiring of coaches who do not only see us a stepping stone to their next job opportunity. It’s time we build!
English

@Masterllc2001 @CoachBHodgson Huh?? He delivered our first title in the AAC tournament?
He got us into the NCAA tourney for first time in over a decade
This isn’t like Golesh where he left without delivering. Hodgson has earned it
Make us proud Coach
English

@kaybouttelover @CoachBHodgson Do you know what P5 school is? If you did you would know Providence is not. They don’t even have a football program.
English

@Masterllc2001 @CoachBHodgson Providence is a P5 school
