People will seriously watch women in the military kill 100+ people from incompetence and have the gaul to defend them and the idea of women as pilots or soldiers. We live in a lunatic asylum where conservatives defend “woman’s boxing” from transgenders. A sick world
Air Safety #OTD by Francisco Cunha@OnDisasters

@Kazanjy Unqualified? You ain´t worth a 1/10th of her fingernail. Using a fatality that killed dozens to push political agendas is extremely low-level. Like subterranean.

One of my favorite things to do when meeting with one an employee of mine is to break out in Chingrish, doing my best Chinese impression, over lunch in a crowded Manhattan restaurant

I’m really a gem and I know it. Having me as a lover is a win. Having me as a friend is a win. Experiencing my love is a win.

CCD fucked me up. When I was 10 or 11 I really struggled with the concept of hell. The CCD I went to didn’t help…they described the catholic world as what seemed to me as extremely litigious. State of grace, mortal sins, all of it. It was staggering to me to think you could have confession and the next day commit some sin, get hit by lightning and go straight to hell. And hell back then wasn’t easy…it was fully conscious, being burned alive…forever. I’d tell myself you’d probably get used to it—no the teacher said…it would be intense, excruciating pain, forever. That sounded terrible. It really sounded cruel…and combined with the arcane rules and the likelihood you’d actually succeed at dying in a state of grace, it seemed you’d have been better off having never been born…a sentiment the CCD teachers wouldn’t tolerate. No life was Gods gift…they’d say…some gift. Heaven didn’t sound very good either…it will be just like church! They’d say…church was boring, and heavy handed guilt trips (at least back then). Granted this was a child’s understanding. So I’ve never been a good Catholic, or probably even a good Christian since joining the reformation group. I still don’t quite get hell. I know it’s considered “Reddit brained” to think this way, but the only thing that makes sense is thinking about Christ’s redemption as a free gift you simply need to accept. But I still have my moments of doubt. I see most people out in the world struggling…struggling to get by, just to make a way in the world. Sin is bad, it makes you make poor decisions and from what I can see…there’s plenty of punishment right here on earth for that. To compound it by eternal suffering seems overkill. So I hope I get it…hope the gift I’ve accepted is all I need to do. I mean, there’s no alternative really…whattaya gonna do?

Twenty years of GWOT experience produced clear doctrine on concrete as a force protection tool. Yet the Pentagon produced no lasting doctrinal shift toward base hardening as a standing requirement. Makes one wonder what the focus has been on.

Bunkers For U.S. Bases In Middle East Now A Top Priority For Pentagon A rush to harden bases in the Middle East should finally be a much needed wake-up call to glaring gaps globally. twz.com/news-features/…

“What’s your plan? Gonna cut your dick off, get a wig and work in Tijuana as a hooker until you get AIDS? Come back to the states and try to seduce your wife’s lover as some sort of sick revenge?” I didn’t know my advice as a young Sergeant in combat to a soldier who was Dear John’d would be followed at the highest levels

When it came to partnering with Afghans, I was actually convinced for awhile that their failure was my fault. Why? Because that’s what our superiors told us. I remember giving honest assessments in formal reports about the capabilities of Afghans. It led to many confrontations with superiors across different tours. “You can’t write that they don’t do X, Y, or Z in this SITREP. Don’t you know every failure is yours and every success is theirs?” That was the mantra. Every failure was ours and every success theirs. And I believed it. The military intellectual crowd was in charge at the time. The ones who hate us now for noticing their inadequacies. The ones who made us think that we could succeed if we made just one more measure of performance and measure of effectiveness to implement. Maybe we could make that barbarian culture better by just doing one more intellectual thing. No. And it’s those same people who punished us for telling the truth. And they should be shamed for it in perpetuity. Senior leaders in 2021 acted stunned at how the Afghans fell so fast. Nobody could believe it. Maybe they were stunned because the truth had been filtered for decades. Laundered. And for what? Lies. All lies. And they were peddled by the most “intelligent” military leaders among us. So if you’re part of that crowd and are now uncomfortable with the current backlash from “idiots” like me. I simply ask, why? You earned it.
