PSG's ruthless ability to punish mistakes with their press and quality in attack to manipulate Chelsea's M2M press was on show as they humbled the European Champions, who failed to capitalise on their own high ball wins. Chelsea vs PSG Tactical Review is out chelseasvoice.substack.com/p/how-psg-mani…

@MobyChe You explained it very well, these lot speak like they didn't watch the early days of Maresca. When he saw the flaws, he adapted his team to suit the situation we have, they think he's some one trick pony.

Yeah my guy but thinking about this Holistically. Stay with me But Maresca also did play 2 midfielders. The only reason he didnt was because he didn't trust the defensive base of Enzo and Caicedo which is correct as we still see it under Rosenior. Only time hes used an Enzo- Caicedo pivot was when we chase games and use the 2-2-6. The game state has to be a certain way. If not Enzo and Caicedo don't start in a pivot. It's always a third guy and isn't it what Maresca does with Lavia? Lavia wasn't just available enough. He just didn't trust Santos enough yet and I'm getting the feeling of legs and adapting to the PL but he was wrong not to play Santos more but Maresca changed his idea based on the lack of a progressive CB and were seeing it now, it was for the balance. Remember he always talked about balance. Seeing how we're open now because we dont have the CBs and midfield legs to handle transition when we lose tbe ball through the middle, you get to understand his trade off of using wing progression as a safety net. That's why Estevao enjoyed lots of the ball under Maresca , lots of the ball but it also meant Garnacho and Neto lots of the ball lol. Remember Estevao v Leeds? Hardly got enough of the ball. That's by the way. The team currently cannot handle turning over the ball centrally as we basically saw v PSG and other games, that and no progressive CB (the way Maresca plays) was why Maresca funneled it even more to the wings this season.

@MobyChe Was more an inverted FB guy at Leicester no? Guys like De Zerbi + Rosenior love two proper midfielders in there, because it’s so important to them & central to what they do. Maresca’s main obsession felt like his wingers. Just a massive shame we never gave him worthy ones.

@MobyChe Maresca had 7 points in 7 games. He was no tactical genius, no mastermind. He was a mediocre manager, in relegation form.

@MobyChe Whatever. I don't care about your tactical analysis. We used to have a world class manager now talking about PT teacher and incompetent SDs and board members. I'm #BlueCoOut

@Peteroboh_PsB He's a rookie but has great ideas that the players that fit can carry out. He doesn't have them all yet especially defence and Gk

@MobyChe Truth is Rosenoir shouldn't even be here He is a good coach and that's it but a club like Chelsea standard don't settle for just good.we need elite manager not a coach. Just watched our last 5games again and our rest defense is total shit #blueco out

Don't worry, physicality in France transitions nicely to the Premier League, if you can hang physically in France, you will easily take that to the Premier League immediately.
Péter Kamarás@peter_kamaras74

“Not physical enough” is a lazy take. Among top 6 league midfielders: —97th percentile duels won (ground) —98th percentile duel success % Of course PL is a different league, but I think he could maintain this level there as well.

Barco is a no brainer for Chelsea. He can help the team in many things — especially to create chances and break down deep blocks. Here’s why🔽🧵

@MobyChe I think if he goes on a long game stretch he will injure just like what’s happening to him now He’s a player that likes to sprint and sprinting is the foundation of hamstring

Looking at Left wingers again that are the 1v1 monsters that we need just reminds me of who we've got at home. His dribbling ability is one of the best we've got on both wings and I just need him back and locked in for the start of next season. It's not even the time to consider giving up on him. No option. Too much talent here.

@MobyChe I still think he’s too young for o give us the consistency we need from a proper winger We all know he has potentials but Gittens can’t play 10 games in a role at his age

@LKCOYB @Rano_CFC Yeah I feel you . That Colwill issue caused the change in style of how we played this season for sure. It was a talking point in the first weeks of the season

@MobyChe @Rano_CFC 100% bro. He was a central progression guy for sure + let down having no true half-space player. Colwill a big miss for Rosenior though vs Maresca. Gonna make a massive difference once back. Think he’s even slightly more obsessed potentially, but I feel you.

@LKCOYB @MobyChe @Rano_CFC No true half-space player, but he had João Félix and Nkunku. He also had Enzo and KDH.

@MobyChe We are not far away from where we need to be, but the SDs would rather die than make investments that will take this team higher. Those Brighton people are a major problem.
