@ModernHerm @danielle_liat @kinzel_john @RBPundit In many, many cases that I’ve personally seen or argued with, it seems to literally just be a profoundly archaic and unevolved worldview. “We won a war so we can do whatever we want, and if you don’t like it, tough shit”. That’s literally the entire argument. Caveman logic.

@ModernHerm @danielle_liat @kinzel_john @RBPundit This is literally always the ultimate crux of the Zionist argument once you boil it down. Democracy doesn’t matter as long as one side can impose its will on the other using violence, and there’s nothing immoral about doing so. 🤮

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Good, we’ve found the core of the disagreement. You think it’s legitimate for countries an ocean away to make land distribution decisions without input from the current residents. And that the people on the short end of that stick have to just accept it. Quite a take! I disagree.

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Ok, let’s say the Spaniards show up in florida and tell the seminoles “hey congrats, we’re giving you half of the Miccosukee land.” Did the Miccosukee “start a war” if they resist this new arrangement?

@ModernHerm @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Another bogus analogy. In order for your analogy to make sense, the natives and the Spanish need to both be indigenous to the land. And you didn’t answer my question. What is sovereignty? And why is it important?

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Yes lol you are accurately describing colonialism. It’s just that it’s immoral and guaranteed to generate resistance. When the natives fought against Columbus, was that them starting a war? Or was it the Spaniards showing up and saying “sorry, you don’t have sovereignty”?

It was under control of the British. Which means the British legally determine the fate of the land. They determined that they would put it up to the UN for a vote. Which is exactly what happened. But this is an interesting potential off-ramp. We agree sovereignty is not just a label from the UN. What is sovereignty?

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Palestine before the partition had its own currency, defined borders, passports, visa stamps, etc. The British oversaw from a distance, but there were local governments with both Jewish and Arab leadership. Sovereignty isn’t just a label from the UN.

@ModernHerm @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Once again you are ignoring a KEY FUCKING DISTINCTION. And honestly it’s getting boring. It’s almost like you’re being willingly obtuse. In your analogy a sovereign state is being voted on. Israel already exists in 2030. No Palestinian state or Jewish state existed in 1947.

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit The UN doesn’t have jurisdiction over non member states though. If America voted in 2030 to give all of the land back to Palestine and make Jewish nation states illegal, and then Israel shot at Palestinians coming to reclaim their homes, would you say Israel started a war?

All member states of the UN were represented. The Palestinians didn’t get a vote because they were not UN members. Just like the Jews didn’t get a vote. The democratic process at the UN was followed explicitly. How is this so hard for you to understand? You know how they would’ve gotten a vote at the UN? By accepting partition and establishing a state.

@ModernHerm @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit I agree on the definition of democracy. It was practiced at the UN in 1947 by the member states just as it was practiced when voting to abolish slavery in the US. You don’t get to claim something “isn’t democratic” because the vote didn’t go your way. That’s the point.

@danielle_liat @PaddyTheFitzer @kinzel_john @RBPundit Huh? Democracy means everyone is represented and willingly grants the unifying organization jurisdiction under defined rules. If you don’t understand the distinction here that actually explains a lot.

@animalologist I think the fact that like 95% of her posts that I see are about finding a massively wealthy bald guy a woman like 20 years younger than him gives it a very nasty vibe. Nobody believes those women are genuinely falling in love. She’s a madame. People will have opinions.

It really wilds me out how angry some people are at Blaine for simply running a successful business that they deride. Mostly men, angry that other men who have way more money than them value matchmaking. She found PMF and they’re misdirecting rage at the market towards her…
Blaine Anderson@datingbyblaine

Why is matchmaking expensive? To illustrate, here’s how I’ll lose money on a client’s $49,000 package. Client is 46, 6’2, exited tech founder. He’s looking for a woman 27-33, very specific criteria around match personality, appearance, and profession. Without diving into specifics, she: • Isn’t easily searchable online... • Isn’t likely to reply when we find her… • Isn’t likely to be single… • Often has a deal-breaker trait we can’t screen for without a phone call… • Isn’t necessarily interested in my client… I was expecting this to be a difficult search, so I quoted $49,000. I wasn’t expecting ~100 hours of labor to find each match, not including communication with the client! To date I’ve spent $45,000 on salaries for the women staffed on his search, plus $2,750 on styling and photos, and we still owe the client 2 matches... Before considering overhead (let alone opportunity cost) this will be a huge L financially. Things balance out though. Most engagements are profitable. Some engagements are quite profitable. For example, a new client in NYC paid $30,000 and paused after his first match, because he’s 99% sure we found his wife. That's still a new relationship, and engagements last 9 months (6 months of active matching + up to 3 months of pause), so we could be on the hook for more work in coming months. But you get the point 🙏
