Really good example here of the world before the Hydration revolution. No one is ordering water. people had a few sips of water per day at most in the past. For most of history Now they're guzzling water all day.

@aakashgupta This is pure genius-level career strategy 💥. From a $347K paycheck to $75M in 12 years, she didn’t just act—she owned the game. Turning fame into a production empire? That’s how you make your presence on screen a durable asset, not a fleeting paycheck. 🎬💎

The 22-year-old in this scene made $347,000 for the entire film. DiCaprio made multiples of that. Her audition was supposed to end with a kiss. She slapped DiCaprio across the face instead. The room went silent. She thought she'd be arrested. Scorsese called it a "thunderclap" and offered her the role on the spot. She almost quit acting after this movie. The fame disoriented her so badly that she told interviewers she reconsidered the entire profession. Her mother talked her out of leaving. Instead of leaving, she started a production company. LuckyChap Entertainment launched in 2014, one year after Wolf of Wall Street. She co-produced I, Tonya, which earned her first Oscar nomination. Then Promising Young Woman. Then Saltburn. Then she walked into Warner Bros., told them Barbie would make a billion dollars, and they laughed. She hired Greta Gerwig, took the lead role, held backend producer points, and the film made $1.44 billion. Her personal take was $50 million. Highest-paid actress in Hollywood that year. Three Oscar nominations. A production company with more critical hits than most studios. A net worth that went from a $347K Scorsese paycheck to $75 million in 12 years. The girl in this scene figured out something most actors never do: showing up on screen is a depreciating asset. Owning the thing that puts you on screen is the only durable position. She built the escape hatch before she needed one.

My brother is an American military pilot. He texted me FROM A DITCH IN ISRAEL because during bombing the Israelis refused to let American soldiers into the bomb shelter. Israel has betrayed us.

Nobody cares about my sustainability rants, but guys we do not need a canopenerguntrigger. We engineer every minor inconvenience away with cheap virgin plastic products sourced from the most unethical source out there, to solve the urge to fill a void of material emptiness. Not a command, just think about it.

@Alixxa01 Social care, family, friends. I can even compromise to point of having specialised tools for disabled people. But these products are marketed to the average joe.

I used to feel this way because I grew up in Los angeles and felt it was a tourist trap situation but then I lived by Maru in Los Feliz for a couple years and that place always has a line and I work from home and I realized it’s such a fun social activity even if you don’t speak to anyone. It’s like micro-dosing Disneyland. Long queue with a treat at the end, with a handful of random people all at the same place at the same time for the same reason. It became a sweet break in my solo work day to do this. There’s something beautiful about lines to me now
