Freshmen Science Research students started their experiments this week for their upcoming competition! Their ideas are AWESOME and creative. 🌱🪰🧴🎯 @Garden_City_HS

Today students classified random objects into groups and subgroups like scientists do when classifying organisms. No grouping is perfect! They realized how scientists often struggle to categorize one organism under one specific grouping. @Garden_City_HS

So proud of these Science Olympiad students! (Missing a few in the 📸) We had 2️⃣ teams this year, competed in 4️⃣ building events AND had students participate in 2️⃣1️⃣ events. @GCUFSD

Living Environment students performed “Disney gel electrophoresis” to figure out which characters are more closely related. (Hint: One character has human legs and another wants them! 🧜‍♀️❄️) We also made a real DNA fingerprint in order to solve a crime! 🧐🧬

This group designed an awesome experiment to test different concealer brands! They measured the coverage of each concealer and the oil blot size when left to sit for several hours. What a unique way to bring their interests to Science Research. ⭐️ @Garden_City_HS

Fun Friday Alert ‼️ Groups of Living Environment students competed in a photosynthesis experimental design challenge yesterday. They really put their photosynthesis knowledge and creativity to the test! @Garden_City_HS

Freshmen Science Research students have been collecting data to make educated claims about which consumer brands are best. Students have used rulers, digital scales, velocity speed machines, graduated cylinders, microscopes, and even anemometers! 📏🔬 @Garden_City_HS
