I can speak directly to this as an expert (and a supporter of Charlie’s work). The dates that Google and other search engines show on search results are coded into the page they are indexing. It is not the date the search engine indexed the article. You can spoof this by back dating the publish date on the article in its metadata. This is an SEO hack for publishers that write breaking news articles. They publish “first” by simply telling the search engine the article was published ahead of time and some search engines give that a boost in their algorithm and the article gets more clicks/ad revenue. But just incase you are wondering, yes, they are doing that for financial gain.
