Since the emergence of Abrahamic monotheism, which is universalist, It's been commonplace for those conquered by states embracing in Abrahamic religion to convert to that religion, which includes Judaism during the Hasmoeans conquest of Palestine. Jesus was from the Galilee. Aristobulus I conquered the Galilee a century before Jesus was born, which to a Judification of that region This also happened all over Europe. Unlike 19th century Africa (Europeans were done forcing Christianity upon people by that time) there are swaths of Europe where Christianity was forced upon people - most famously In northern Germany during the Saxon Wars. So you could actually make the same case for for many Europeans, despite the fact that Europeans spread Christianity around the world via colonization and conquest. But in my view this is highly impractical, given these religions show significant staying power once they take root, no matter how they do.

Decolonization also means not adopting the religion of those who colonized you
