Well done @the_beardedsina 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Vincent The Therapist@mrhighfoster

His full name is Olusina Ajidahun Graduated with distinction from University of Ibadan College of Medicine Started posting health tips as a medical student on Instagram, later moved to X. Grew his signature beard during his house officer days at UI. Created content because Nigerian youth spend hours on social media but lack health knowledge. Actively fought COVID misinformation and promoted vaccination in Nigeria Co-founded PrivHealth, a telehealth startup for discreet men's sexual health care Won the 2024 TFA Africa Prize for Health & Wellness. He boldly debunks health scams and fake miracle cures with medical facts Once vlogged to fact-check claims of "no ambulances in Ogun State" and found 26 Calls out Nollywood for unrealistic doctor scenes (like operating without gloves) Featured in BBC, PUNCH, and other major media for digital health work Facilitates international medical travel for patients needing surgery abroad. Almost got scammed by fraudsters who studied his helpful nature One of his biggest surprises is a "small" account on X, sending him a message to sponsor the heart operation of a less privilege person that needs it. Chose to stay in Nigeria, using education and tech to create change . . . . @the_beardedsina has been doing a lottt of health enlightenment on social media for years. And for the past few years, he helped facilitate and organise the international surgeries of people, especially when there is a recent healthcare crowdfunding. I remember how he frequently fights against using herbal medicines for curing ailments that seamingly have no cure. But today, we remember his health works and we are grateful. The threads, the videos, the replies and comments. We see him and we appreciate him as one of Nigeria's and Africa's top health influencer . And to you reading this, you have to create a way for yourself in whatever niche or field you find yourself in You have the knowledge. But people won't know about you, if you don't put it out there. So today, whether it's a post, a video, a vlog, etc Just say something about what you know And say something each day. Perhaps a day, things would go different and your luck might meet you. . . . ✍️ Vincent the Therapist

The new Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine (11th Ed) officially recognizes Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh. 🇳🇬 She is the hero who stood her ground against Ebola to save a nation of 200 million. Seeing her name in these pages is a win for every Nigerian health worker.

@Opsie1 Ooh, this is so simple to understand. You should have seen my confusion when a doctor told me I have ulcer last week! He never explained it this way, though. And the meds he prescribed made me nauseous 🥹😥🥹

Indeed… A positive result for H. Pylori in the blood does not equate to a gastric or duodenal ulcer. A positive stool test for H. Pylori simply suggests that person has H. Pylori infection in the stomach. So this infection plus upper abdominal pain may suggest a stomach ulcer or inflammation. It is not meant to be permanent (some people say they’ve had ulcer since they were children). Once appropriate treatment is given, the infection and pain should resolve. If it doesn’t, then escalate to further investigations to determine the cause of pain. H. Pylori is not equal to Ulcer, but it is a common cause of ulcers.
The_Bearded_Dr_Sina@the_beardedsina

It is not suddenly high, what most people call Ulcer is not Ulcer Average Nigerian thinks once I eat beans, fried plantain & my chest pains me, I have Ulcer. There are 1001 things that can cause this. An Ulcer is a wound in the stomach. Only an Endoscopy ( camera) can see it

@krissmeka @the_beardedsina This depends on your location. It could range from 30,000 to 500,000 Naira. With health insurance it could be cheaper.

I was straining in the toilet. The poo was rock hard and almost tore my sphincters. I almost wanted to use hand to pull the shit out. Yam and Oil..Never. the trauma is there.

MDCN @MDCNOfficial. What is being done to house officers is unfair. House officers are the work horse & engine of every medical system. Why are they being owed salaries? 3rd week of the month. This is inhumane. There are labor laws. This is violation of human rights

Some of the comments here are probably from people living in countries where the prevalence of Hepatitis B is very low. Otherwise one is tempted to think they have a death wish… The Hepatitis B birth dose has been crucial in the decline of the prevalence of Hepatitis B in Nigeria, thus reducing the long term complications like liver cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver failure.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus@DrTedros

Hepatitis B birth dose vaccination is a highly effective and safe public health measure, backed by decades of rigorous evidence. @WHO has significant concerns over the justification and ethical safeguards of a proposed randomized controlled trial (RCT) on the hepatitis B birth dose vaccine in Guinea Bissau. Depriving newborns of Hepatitis B birth dose vaccination is unethical and puts them at risk of life threatening liver disease and long term complications. Please read the new WHO statement on Hepatitis B birth dose vaccination who.int/news/item/13-0…
