Outplayer 2026.3 is now available! This update includes support for Spatial Audio, new options for subtitles, and other UI improvements and bug fixes.

Outplayer 2025.14 is now available! This update includes a refreshed design with Liquid Glass on iOS 26, and other UI improvements.

@OutplayerApp Hi, currently multichannel audio is downmixing to stereo. Any plans for multichannel support? Would be a great addition!

Outplayer 2025.11 is now available! This update includes major performance improvements for Picture in Picture, HDR, and external displays. Also included is a new gesture for center tap to play/pause. A UI refresh for iOS 26 is also in-progress and will be coming later on.

@LeoNatan It was calling into the scene delegate if there already was one.

@OutplayerApp What API endpoint was it hitting before? UIAppDelegate.openURL?

@LeoNatan It seems like it’s now calling the method to request a new scene, so we can no longer use an existing scene from Files, which is interesting. developer.apple.com/documentation/…

@OutplayerApp Yes, new to 26. But would that change still allow multiple scenes? That is functionality that should exist in a modern iPad app. Not sure how you'd then select which scene to override with the file incoming from Files. On Mac, some players open in-place if nothing is playing.

@LeoNatan Thanks, I believe it always opening a new scene from Files might be new behavior in 26. I can look into changing it to use the video-only scene which won’t remain open!

@OutplayerApp One more feedback, if I can :) On iPad with iOS 26, every file opens in a new "window"/scene. The issue is, one video finishes playing and an empty window remains open, but going back to Files app and opening the next video opens a new Outplayer window.

@LeoNatan If you select “Get Info” from the context menu, you’ll be able to change “Always Open With” like in my screenshot!

@OutplayerApp After Infuse is removed, there is no default; Outplayer is there, but cannot set as default. Something is missing from the Info.plist entries. Perhaps imported vs editor types.

@LeoNatan Hello! It appears to work in some cases I’ve tried, can you let me know the file type it’s not working for?

@OutplayerApp Hello, thank you for the great app! Please also look into supporting iOS 26’ default apps feature, allowing opening player directly when selecting a video file. Right now, it is not possible to select Outplayer as a default app. My guess would be in Info.plist, imported types.

Outplayer 2024.8 is now available! This update includes refinements for playing from URLs, support for x-callback-url, and other bug fixes.

@OutplayerApp What's x-callback-url? Does that mean that when I click on stream on a file explorer, I'll see OutPlayer in the video player list? Cuz I still don't see it..

@xtoken_ Yes there will be improvements to the URL scheme to allow that!

Outplayer 2024.2 is now available! New is a list view option, and other improvements to browsing and file management.

@OutplayerApp I'm facing a new issue. Before this update I used to be able to resume where I left on DDL videos Before, I watch using a link, close the app, and come back later, paste the link again and it immediately resumes where I left. But now it starts from the beginning every time
