Another rare stinker from the Penguins this year. They still have gotten 4/6 points this week and have a banged-up Panthers team coming to town for a big B2B this weekend. Almost everyone around them in the standings is losing tonight, too. Move on to the next.

@PenguinsJesus Definitely didn’t need a scorecard to see what each player I saw it watching the game. Letang 3 solids games in a row I think, Girard has helped him dramatically, even Novak had a good game, Brazeau is struggling. I thought Kindel would have had a lower score than that.

I heard two people in post-game interviews ask Egor Chinakhov what he can do to help Stu Skinner in goal. Go wrap that question up and mail it to Parker Wotherspoon, Egor did his job tonight.

@AGretz Agreed, he’s making Letang look good out there though, I wish Letang could start driving it more, 3 games in a row without a shot on goal.

Big positive out of this game: Girard looks great and the Letang-Girard pairing is having another strong game. That would be a HUGE development.

@kelsey_surmacz4 Truthfully I’d rather have Chinaknov on the power point than Malkin, let’s start there and/or get Girard on the pp 1 or pp 2 in place of Letang, just for some offensive push.

The Pens have scored a fair number of five-on-three power play goals recently. However, they have not looked very threatening at five-on-four since the big guys came back. Really think they need to consider switching things up. Too many forced plays and not enough movement.

@downwiththen @PenguinsJesus Forgot to add this but counting tonight he only has 2 SOG total in the last 6, maybe that’s helping his defense. Also Girard is everywhere again tonight.

Have Kris Letang and Sam Girard finally turned a corner? They went from a metrics blackhole to…productive in not very long.

And it's 2-1 Penguins after 1. They played well in the final 10 minutes of the period after a bad start.
