As someone who drives the automotive equivalent of a bumblebee, yes people are really THAT unobservant on the roads.
If this was in the US or Canada, it might make sense you don't see a small car when you're high up in a pickup. But in Australia, most cars are NOT that tall.

The BBC is using some seriously unconventional tech to get closer to wildlife than ever before. 📹🐾 Robotic cameras disguised as dung heaps are being deployed to quietly film animals in their natural habitat without disturbing them. It’s stealth level surveillance, but for science, not war. A reminder that modern “reconnaissance” isn’t only happening on battlefields… but in nature too.
