As the song became popular it sent Americans in search of the English translation of "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir" the French line in the song which is, "Do you want to sleep with me tonight?" Covered multiple times, it is the 9th song to reach #1 by two different musical acts in the US, the 2nd was the Mulin Rouge soundtrack single. The Labelle version was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2021.
