Every time a prosecutor asks for a continuance because they have shown up on the day of trial without any witnesses, I point out that we have a specific statute that says they don't get the continuance. Not one time has it persuaded the judge.

Indeed. But I’d add, as a very friendly amendment, it isn’t just the Senate’s constitutional authority— but their constitutional duty— to advise and consent. Deference is important. But absolute obedience is an abdication of their responsibility.

A good time to remember the Senate’s Constitutional authority of advice and consent. Yes, Trump won & is empowered to nominate who he sees fit. The Senate is also Constitutionally empowered to review the credibility & qualifications of those appointments & choose to confirm or block accordingly.

FYI we don’t need a Department of Government Efficiency. We already have one. @USGAO - the Government Accountability Office (GAO, est. 1921) - saves $133 for every $1 of funding it receives! If all GAO recommendations were implemented, the financial benefit could be >$200 bil.
