@MCCCANM Every time it’s proposed to take out the bricks, it’s gets rejected, or so I’m told. I drag a bag across them at least twice a day and honestly it never gets old. I find the “clickity clack” soothing, especially after a long day. But I’m weird, so it’s all good.

Only 36 hours to drop in & visit Mom. Between the kids & work, it’s hard to get here, but worth it. On a side note, kudos to the Albuquerque Sunport. The renovations are really nice! The brick floor is still dumb & beats up your bag, but the feel is very New Mexico.

We started a donation drive on Mon. 3/16. We’re collecting non-perishable food items like canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, shelf-stable items, toiletries, etc. Donations can be dropped off @ the Aviation Dept. offices on 3rd level until 3/27 (8a–5p, Mon–Fri).💙

@MCCCANM I never answer my phone unless I know the number. I figure if it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail. If you haven’t already, sign up with LifeLock. Put a freeze on your credit reports as well.

I almost got scammed on the phone just now. They ran a good game, until I told them I wouldn’t give my credit card, then hung up. They claimed to be from the Sheriff’s Office & I had failed to appear. Had badge numbers & ranks that at first glance seemed to check out. Address & telephone numbers given check out. One had a name of a real deputy that I found on the internet as the conversation was ongoing. They’ve done some homework. Lots of jargon & I must admit, it sounds legit. They had my name, address & last 4 of my social…I stupidly agreed that this was my data. Dumb, dumb, dumb…how could I be so dumb? The number has no caller ID. That should have been my first clue. I should have also figured out that if you have a warrant, they don’t generally call you. I don’t know what I was thinking. Anyway, the scam is that you were sent a jury summons for some complicated multi-district thing. You didn’t appear, but signed it & said you would. When you say that’s impossible & don’t remember receiving a summons, they ask about any postal thefts. In my case, I had credit cards repeatedly stolen about 6 months ago. In hindsight, I also don’t think you have to sign jury summons…but I don’t actually recall. Anyway, you didn’t appear & now they want to handle it either criminally or by converting it to a civil thing. I don’t think you convert criminal to civil, but I’m not a lawyer & these guys have a good script. They’ll read you a bunch of prepared statements. Ask you questions. Now I’m afraid they have a recording of my voice they can use AI to manipulate. They transfer you to the guy who handles this stuff…which was suspicious, but maybe… It’s a Captain. 🚩 Red Flag. At this point, I took down as much info as I could…I’d been writing it all down, citation #, warrant #, the lot. I bided my time until he informed me I’d have to pay a hold until the matter could be resolved by my coming into the Sheriffs Department for a signature analysis. I told him I could come down to the Sherriff’s office right away, he said they’d have to arrest me if I showed up & I told him to fuck off. Scam confirmed. Fees over the phone & signature analysis are both 🚩 🚩. I called the Sherriff’s Department non-emergency line & the dispatcher immediately told me it wasn’t real…though she can’t verify if I have any kind of infraction outstanding over the phone. Which is good, but the point of the scams is to rattle you & they had done at least some of that to me. In hindsight, I should have known from the start it was a scam & refused to verify anything. Big mistake on my part & I’ll be locking stuff down now. Nevertheless, an elderly person or someone challenged may fall for this, and I want you to be aware. The dispatcher told me you can report this to the FCC, though she didn’t have the exact web address. I’ll find it. You may also be able to report it to the FBI’s “IC3”, an Internet Crime division, apparently. I know nothing about it. Anyway, now you know the scam.

Quick health note so everyone understands why I’ve been a little quiet. Some labs suggest my leukemia may be stirring again. My number today was 4.7, which is still below the threshold where treatment usually begins. In my case it has often come back down on its own, so for now we are watching it closely. For perspective, I’ve had two bone marrow transplants and fourteen rounds of chemotherapy over the years. I know this road well, and I choose carefully when it’s time to intervene and when it’s time to let my body do its work. Right now I’m resting, managing the aches that come with this, and giving it a little time. I may not be as active here for a bit. Please don’t worry if I’m quiet. I promise you I have excellent doctors watching things closely. One small request from someone who has been living with this since 1997: please don’t send medical advice, miracle supplements, or the latest thing someone read about online. I know it comes from kindness, but after two transplants and fourteen rounds of chemo, I’ve learned to trust my team and my own experience with this disease. Prayers are always welcome. Advice is not necessary. I’ve been doing this since 1997 and I’m still here. At this point I figure I either know what I’m doing… or I’m the luckiest, most stubborn redhead alive. And if I’m a little quiet for a while, don’t worry. My partners in crime, Merc and Joe, always know what’s going on and can answer questions if needed. Every pilot knows you never fly alone. I have the best wingmen.

Local tow truck drivers from across Central New Mexico are leading a tribute at our BCSO East Area Command. As roadside responders, they understand the dangers of working on the shoulder, especially on highways and in the East Mountains. Their goal is twofold: to honor Sgt. Schlattman’s life and service, and to remind everyone of New Mexico’s Slow Down, Move Over law. When you see a first responder or a tow truck operator on the side of the road, slow down and move over. One decision can prevent a tragedy. My favourite aircraft… British Airways 747-436 wearing the Landor livery. My last 747 flight was on this very aircraft back in August 2018. These photos were taken shortly after she landed for the final time at Dunsfold Aerodrome. It was freezing cold but was amazing 🥰✈️
