Local authorities are crumbling under financial pressures, and systems are failing. The people worst affected are those who need support the most. @EnfieldCouncil, it's time to take action and prioritise the welfare of families in need.

Our client is supported under s.17 by @EnfieldCouncil, but they have failed to make any payments since 22 August. The children have missed 3 days of school because they have no money to travel.

This 👇🏽 is an example of how social services, recruited into a hostile environment mindset push families into poverty. Many families are blocked from benefits & are expected to survive on crumbs (actually - unlawfully low levels of money) from councils. Shame on @LBofBexley ❌

The family doesn't have enough money to buy clothing and underwear for a five-year-old boy. At Project 17, we have repeatedly asked Bexley to provide a lawful minimum amount of money to this family: £49.18 per person, each week. They have refused to provide this full amount.

At Project 17, we work with clients every single day who are ignored, neglected & maltreated by local authorities. There is a particular violence in providing crumbs of support, keeping families who have nowhere else to turn on the brink of survival.

This family has been pushed into poverty by Bexley’s failure to provide care. We demand that @LBofBexley provide a lawful rate of support to ALL families in their care, & request that Bexley children’s services contact us immediately in order to resolve this family’s situation.

Today a family told us that @LBofBexley are provide financial support that is insufficient to live on, causing them to rack up credit card debt in order to survive. This family is blocked from benefits due to their immigration status and urgently needs support from Bexley.
