Today at the Defence Headquarters, I signed the Implementing Arrangement, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, for the donation of a 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Machine to the Kenya Defence Forces, alongside H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian High Commissioner to Kenya, who signed on behalf of the Government of India. This marks a significant step in strengthening our military medical capability and deepening defence cooperation between Kenya and India. The MRI machine will be installed at the Kenya Navy Hospital in Mombasa, where it will enhance diagnostic capacity and support the delivery of timely, accurate, and specialized medical care to our personnel. This is not merely an equipment transfer, but a strategic investment in the health, resilience, and operational readiness of our service men and women. Present during the signing ceremony were Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command (India); Major General Edward Rugendo, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Personnel and Logistics); Major General Frederick Leuria, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Operations, Plans, Doctrine and Training); alongside other senior military officers from both countries.
