Je ne reviendrai pas sur les détails de la #polémique entre la Pologne et l’Ukraine autour de certaines figures de l’histoire ukrainienne. Chaque nation européenne porte sa part d’ombre. La France a eu Pétain, que certains tentent de réhabiliter. L’Allemagne a été à l’origine des deux guerres les plus meurtrières de l’histoire moderne et, avec l’Italie, du nazisme. La Pologne compte aussi des nombreuses pages sombres dans ses relations avec les Ukrainiens, en les persécutant durant les siècles Pourtant, personne ne s’arroge le droit de dicter à ces nations la manière dont elles doivent regarder leur propre passé. Après des siècles de domination, de russification, de polonisation et de #répression, les Ukrainiens tentent de retrouver les figures qui incarnent, à leurs yeux, la lutte pour leur survie nationale et leur indépendance. On peut être d’accord ou non, mais ce choix leur appartient. C’est précisément là que le président polonais Karol Nawrocki @NawrockiKn a commis une erreur en s’immisçant dans un débat qui relève de la #souveraineté ukrainienne. En choisissant de retirer à Zelensky l’Ordre de l’Aigle blanc pour des raisons historiques, il a transformé un désaccord en #affront politique. Le président ukrainien a eu parfaitement #raison de renvoyer la distinction à la Pologne. Aucun chef d’État digne de ce nom n’accepterait qu’un dirigeant étranger utilise une distinction nationale pour imposer sa vision de l’histoire ou dicter à son peuple quels héros il a le droit de respecter. Le plus grave est ailleurs : par un geste maladroit et inutile, Nawrocki a fragilisé des années d’efforts diplomatiques qui avaient permis à Varsovie et à Kyiv de bâtir une relation exceptionnelle malgré le poids de l’histoire. Au moment où l’Ukraine lutte pour sa survie, rouvrir les querelles du passé constitue une #faute politique inexcusable, même pour des raisons électorales. ‼️Qui profite de cette querelle ? Certainement pas la Pologne, encore moins l’Ukraine. Le seul bénéficiaire est Moscou. Depuis des années, la Russie exploite les blessures historiques entre Polonais et Ukrainiens pour briser leur rapprochement. Casser la confiance entre Varsovie et Kyiv reste un objectif stratégique du Kremlin. Une fois de plus, les agresseurs 🇷🇺 marquent des points du point de vue de la propaganda, Tant que Putin trouvera des #idiots utiles pour relayer ses intérêts, il continuera à fracturer les démocraties européennes.

Польща — наш стратегічний сусід, союзник, держава, через яку проходить величезна частина нашої безпеки, логістичний хаб забезпечення зброєю наших Збройних Сил, країна, від якої великою мірою залежить наш вступ до ЄС та НАТО. За часів моєї каденції невипадково вона була нашим головним європейським і євроатлантичним адвокатом. Польща — це країна, яка прийняла понад мільйон українських біженців, і їм потрібні добрі стосунки між нашими народами. Тож українсько-польські відносини — це не майданчик для хайпу, взаємних образ і політичної капіталізації на емоціях. Тому час припинити ескалацію там, де потрібні холодна голова, професійна дипломатія і державницька відповідальність. За умов, коли ключові українські комунікатори на польському напрямку все ще киплять емоціями, виникає просте запитання: хто сьогодні реально займається дипломатією з Польщею? Хто відповідає за політичну комунікацію з польською владою? Хто говорить із польським парламентом, урядом, президентською адміністрацією, місцевими елітами, експертним середовищем, медіа? Хто гасить пожежу? Що взагалі робиться для відновлення довіри? Що буде з українсько-польським стратегічним партнерством? Якою буде атмосфера довкола надзвичайно важливої для нас конференції в Гданську? Ми можемо мати суперечки щодо аграрної політики, перевізників, конкуренції, політики, пам’яті тощо. Але все це треба вирішувати через дипломатію, комунікацію і повагу, а не через бійки в соціальних мережах. І без претензій до історичних підручників один одного — хай ними переймаються вчені, а не політики. Наша спільна історія надто складна, сповнена взаємних кривд і образ, і кращих ліків, ніж «прощаємо і просимо прощення», ще ніхто не прописав. Майбутнє не має бути в заручниках від минулого. Тим більше, шо не минуле — причина цієї кризи у двосторонніх стосунках, а внутрішні проблеми, популізм, гонитва за рейтингами. Україна не має розкоші сваритися з Польщею. Польща не має розкоші сваритися з Україною. Ми воюємо за незалежність та існування української державності. І ми повинні берегти кожного союзника, кожен інструмент, кожну можливість. Росія ж лише аплодуватиме кожному нашому взаємному приниженню, кожному необережному слову, кожному новому скандалу. Пропозиції нашої команди такі. Перше. Припинити публічну ескалацію. Друге. Негайно провести аудит української політики щодо Польщі: хто відповідає, яка стратегія, які канали комунікації, які проблеми, які рішення. Третє. Повернути професійну дипломатію. Не шоу, не образи, не спілкування через ЗМІ, не публічний шантаж, не гру у «хто гостріше і болючіше відповість полякам», а системну роботу з польською державою і польським суспільством. Мій заклик до дипломатів: залиште справу повернення орденів політикам, у вас же — своя важлива місія. Четверте. Відокремити емоції від національного інтересу. Бо національний інтерес України — це сильний союз із Польщею, підтримка України в ЄС і НАТО, спільна безпека та спільне стримування росії. П’яте. Маємо забезпечити обіцяне відкриття всіх переговорних кластерів з Європейським Союзом у липні. Це також залежить і від Варшави, і тут не можна недооцінювати ризики. Час працювати і відновлювати українсько-польське стратегічне партнерство. Не можна допустити розділення України і Молдови в європейській інтеграції. Не раз вже говорив: треба припинити втрачати людей, території і час. Тепер додам: так само важливо нам не втрачати партнерів і союзників.

В Польше, в отличие от Украины, работают демократические процессы и проходят выборы. Нравится нам это или нет - это факт. И по данным опроса населения, подавляющее большинство поляков воспринимает название подразделений в честь УПА как национальное оскорбление. А польские политики просто выражают интересы своих избирателей.

Someone is trying to Community Note this post claiming Nawrocki can't possibly be a witting or unwitting Kremlin asset because Russia placed him on a "wanted list." Being "wanted" or sanctioned by Russia neither proves nor disproves whether the person is working for Russia. It's irrelevant. In Russian intelligence doctrine, this is part of maskirovka (deception) and building a "legend" (a deep cover story). By officially sanctioning an asset, a hostile state provides that person with a perfect alibi, allowing them to point to the sanctions as "proof" that they are independent, patriotic, and an enemy of the state they are actually working for. The most prominent and highly documented instance of this occurred with the Russian Sanctions List of November 2018. On November 1, 2018, the Russian government issued Order No. 1300, imposing severe financial sanctions on 322 Ukrainian politicians and businessmen. While the list included genuine opponents of the Kremlin, Russian intelligence used the massive list to slip in several of their highest-level assets to give them political cover in Ukraine.

Last year the Polish people elected a Kremlin asset as their president. From the beginning, Europeans, especially in Eastern Europe but also farther away, always balanced their inadequate support for Ukraine with the desire to ensure Ukraine does not come out as a successful beacon of Europe. Jealousy, competition. Ukraine is persevering despite all these machinations. For example, early on, many countries worked hard to try to ensure Ukraine cannot develop its own military-industrial complex. They failed. If Ukraine didn't have a unit named in honor of WW2 partisans who fought against Russian and German occupation of Ukraine, Nawrocki would have found another excuse to vilify Ukraine. Ukraine continues to spill blood alone in defense of these European nations.

It is time to call out Karol Nawrocki for exactly what he is: a useful idiot whose actions systematically benefit Russia and other enemies of Europe. Stripping Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle is a major symbolic blow to relations between Poland and Ukraine. Nawrocki claims that only trusted individuals should hold Poland's highest honor, but his implementation of this rule is a complete joke. If this was a matter of actual conviction, Gerhard Schröder would have lost his honor for his ties to Moscow. He is a real enemy of Poland. Instead, Schröder gets a pass while working against the security of Europe. Nawrocki also ignores the historical enemies of the state. He has not touched the honors of Russian imperial marshal Ivan Paskevich. Catherine the Great and Tsar Nicholas I remain completely safe from his review. This proves his goal is simply to single out Ukraine. Dividing Europe over historical grievances while the country faces an existential invasion is exactly what Putin wants. Nawrocki's campaign already signaled this direction when he brought the famous Romanian Russian asset George Simion on stage. He followed that up by endorsing Viktor Orbán, a literal Kremlin Trojan horse, in the Hungarian elections. Nawrocki and the PiS establishment have shown that their domestic culture war takes priority over genuine strategic threats. He will always favor Russian proxies over anti-Russian liberals if it helps his political branding. He is an idiot who is deeply useful to Moscow, and his presidency is actively weakening the continent. The Polish electorate made a pathetic and historical error by electing him
