This was spoken to Peter, not the Pope. In addition, the most consistent interpretation of this verse is that Peter was used by God to open the kingdom to the three ethnic groups of the time: Jews (Acts 2), Samaritians (Acts 8), and Gentiles (Acts 10). But this Pope's recent comments about Islam indicate a terrible ignorance of both the religion and its history. Likewise, anyone who thinks Papal authority is infallible also shows an amazing ignorance of both Scripture and the history of the Roman Catholic Church

Matthew 16. Our Lord says that whatever Peter binds/looses on Earth will be bound/loosed in heaven. But no one can bind heaven to error. In other words, whenever he exercises that authority, he does so infallibly. I highly recommend reading your Bible more.

The Pope cites Lebanon as an example of peaceful “coexistence” between Christians and Muslims. Fun fact: Lebanon was literally created to be a homeland for persecuted Christians in the Middle East. And it was for a few decades. The moment Muslim invaders thought they had the numbers, they started a civil war that lasted 15 years because they didn’t want to live with the same Christians who made them part of the country. Thousands of Christians were massacred, Muslims became the majority, Hezbollah took over, and the country hasn’t known peace ever since. Lebanon is the first and ultimate example that coexistence between Christians and Muslims is quite literally impossible. It’s mind-blowing that anyone would use it as an example of coexistence, let alone the Pope.

If you refer to Allah as “Father,” you will have committed the worst of sins that their books says will condemn you to eternal hell. It’s called “shirk.” The Quran clearly says that to refer to God as “Father” is an unforgivable sin.

In the last book of Lewis' Narnia series, The Last Battle, certain corrupt Narnians join forces with the Calormen from the South (representing Muslims), and they declare that they worship the same God! They combined the Narnian God, Aslan, with the Calormen God, Tash, and called him "Tashlan." Of course, none of those involved in the lie really believed in any God, much less this new one of their own creation. They were all happy to make the compromise in order to consolidate their collective power. The same is true today. Those who are pushing for Islamo-Catholicism are not true believers. They worship power, and they crave the power that comes with combining two such massive world religions. In the end we know what happens to those wicked heretics. They learn that Tash is very real, and Aslan is very real. Tash is a demon who accepts these fools as a sacrifice to feed his thirst for blood. The followers of Aslan meet him, and spend eternity in paradise. Christians do not worship the Islamic God. Muslims do not worship the Christian God. Choose this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house, we will worship the Lord.

To believe in the Triune God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is considered Shirk to Muslims -- an unforgivable sin. A Muslim will never refer to God as "Father," for that, too, is an unforgivable sin, and yet this is how Jesus told us to refer to God. The Muslim's Allah and the God revealed in the Bible are not the same!

Catechism of the Catholic Church 841 says, "The Church's relationship with the Muslims. 'The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.'" The clear meaning here is, frankly, heretical. Essentially it is saying that Muslims worship the same God as Christians. This is, of course, false. The Islamic god is not like our God. He is not good. He is not just. He is not merciful. And he is not truly God. At best, he is simply the fake creation of man. At worst, he is a literal demon (if not Satan himself). There can never be "communion" between Christians and Muslims.

As an Iranian watching this rescue mission unfold, I was praying the American pilot would make it out alive, not just for him, but so the Islamic Republic could not use him as a bargaining chip or claim some twisted “victory.” At the same time, I felt a deep envy. Your government sent elite special forces, million-dollar aircraft, and moved heaven and earth to bring one American home. No hesitation. No excuses. In Iran, the regime uses human shields and recruited child soldiers to clear minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. They treat their own people like disposable tools. They are now recruiting child soldiers as we speak. The Islamic Republic has zero regard for human life. That’s the brutal difference. One side risks everything to save their own. The other sacrifices their own to stay in power. This hits hard when you have lived under both realities.
