It’s hard to describe what it sounds like to relearn how to hear digitally, but it’s a process. It took time to adjust and develop a more natural sound. The beginning was hard, but I decided to take it on as a challenge. I had to practice every day.

Like hearing loss, vision loss can also cause visual hallucinations, known as Charles Bonnet syndrome. It can be a frightening experience, particularly if you don’t know that it is commonly associated with vision loss.

When we avoid letting ourselves feel our emotions, we often develop feelings of self-loathing, self-hatred, and low self-esteem. Practicing kindness and self-compassion will lead to self-advocacy and help you combat negative self-talk.

How do we address grief and loss when we experience it on a continuum? When you allow yourself to feel your emotions, they become more familiar and recognizable and even less acute over time.

Take notice of times when you are experiencing or avoiding feelings of grief and loss in your own life and how would you describe your relationship to grief and loss?

I have spent years deepening my relationship with #griefandloss—the two emotions most people fear and avoid because of its association with death. Whether it has to do with death or not, we all experience grief and loss in our everyday lives.
