There's nothing sustainable about krill fishing. Krill are the foundation of the Antarctic marine ecosystem, relied on by whales, seals, penguins and countless other species. The exploitation of krill for profit has to end.

This is incredible. This machine is capable of cleaning up 100 million kg of plastic ocean waste, and as of 2025, it has already collected about 500,000 kg of plastic. It aims to remove 90% of ocean plastic by 2040.

This morning @hilbrebirdobs was foggy but still the south easterly brought 4 #Wheatear (incl 3 c&r under licence) and our first Swallow of the year flew south down the island … the Scaup was still present and a pair of Eider flew past the Obs.

While attention is rightly focused on the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in the south & east of #Lebanon, poachers in the north are exploiting the security vacuum & targeting these weary travellers as they navigate one of the world's most hazardous "bottleneck" areas …

This is gamekeeper RUSSELL MASON of Bridge of Cally, Perthshire. He trapped a rare bird of prey in a cage before beating it to death and was caught out by a covert surveillance operation. Mason, 49, lured the protected Goshawk into a baited trap before battering it several times with a cosh to cause its agonising death. He was also found to have left nearly 200 rounds of live ammunition lying around in his bedroom and unsecured within his Polaris Ranger vehicle. Mason admitted intentionally or recklessly killing a Goshawk on 12 February 2024 by seizing it with a net before repeatedly striking it with a cosh on Cochrage Moor, Bridge of Cally, Perthshire. I usually visit a locality in Scotland for Taiga Bean Goose. However, this one, with its duo of Pink footed Geese pals was only twenty miles from home at Longdon on Tern, Shrops. A pleasing encounter with images/vid taken at great distance this late afternoon. 😀👍

From our vantage points, we’ve watched the incredible spectacle of Short-toed and Booted Eagles locking into thermals, leaving #Morocco behind to take the leap north toward Europe. They are joined by a steady, relentless stream of Black Kites and large groups of both Black and White Storks. Meanwhile, the campo is rapidly filling with the vibrant energy of newly arrived passerines.
