The reason why I doubt we're getting a trailer any time soon...: The official S2 trailer dropped on Apr. 1st 2024 and it premiered May 12th. That's only a month and 12 days before the premiere... We are 2 months away from S3. Tell me we're we not getting the trailer in a month...

I think this framing is a bit odd in that Akasha presents L as quintessentially male in *one* book. Her gender essentialism is a contrast to his androgynous partnership with Gabrielle in the previous book where by Lestat’s own identification, neither are really male or female.

it's interesting how the show evokes endless discourses on lestat's gender presentation when in the books akasha presents lestat as the embodiment of everything wrong with men. the embodiment of male violence and ferocity. the essence of masculinity. it's why she likes him.

We can question how much Lestat truly believes or accepts his own and Gabrielle’s androgyny - I think it’s an ongoing journey, and gendered expectations and attitudes are not as easily cast off as L and G hope/wish them to be. But it is the ideal they aspire to.

It’s also, I think, ironic that Akasha characterizes mass violence as intrinsically male / embodied by Lestat when his body and mind must be forcibly changed and controlled by Akasha in order to fit the paradigm of power and ambition that is intrinsic to herself and alien to him.
