On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect. For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay. The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built. True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come. As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized. Happy Juneteenth, New York City.

They didn't just deny it, they relentlessly targeted anyone who expressed dissent against the genocide, they ran deranged coverage of peaceful protests, and they openly justified and backed severe crimes against humanity that were being committed daily, on camera. Pure evil.

Another Black trans woman has been murdered. Every death in jails, prisons, ICE detention, etc. are murders by the State. Incarcerated folks don’t die for no reason, they die due to poor conditions, & they’re disproportionately BIPOC, queer, etc. Rest in Power, Peaches Croskey.

The island of Puerto Rico is experiencing a water crisis. Nearly 100,000 people have had water services disrupted. Puerto Rico’s water outages are not caused by a lack of water. They are the result of decades of colonial neglect by the richest country on Earth.

The reason why Palestine, Lebanon & other countries are suffering because people are barely paying attention. Lebanon is going through a massacre. Palestine is going through a genocide. People in Sudan and Congo are being killed. Don’t stop talking about them & spread awareness.
