Student athletes in all sports play under a lot of pressure. Everything they do is public. They balance practice, travel, and play with academic requirements. They win, lose & handle post-game environments when they feel like it & when they don’t. I’m proud of our Bearkats.

Oh man…these finishes are hard when you’ve seen the team fight so hard all season. Have enjoyed watching them, rooting for them, and getting to know some of them. Incredible men led by an incredible coach. 👏🏻

Nice to have our incredible Orange Pride dance team (national champions!) perform at men’s basketball semi finals half time show before a nice Conference USA crowd. They, our fabulous band, exceptional cheer team, and beloved Sammy are representing us well!

Tough tournament end for our treasured women’s basketball team. I adore these athletes, their coaches, and their culture. Rough day, but impressive season. 👏🏻

Saturday was hopping as we welcomed prospective Bearkats to engage with our campus community. I met many visitors who have committed to SHSU because their siblings or other family members attend and love it here. #FamilyTradition

Ran into some supportive @BearkatsMBB fans at the tournament tonight. We’re all excited to root for our amazing athletes!

I’m proud of and grateful for Coach Mudge. He’s as impressive off the court as he is on the court. I don’t know anyone who has a bigger heart for student athletes.

Elliott and I enjoyed hosting the Student-Athlete Advisory Council this evening. These students represent Bearkat Athletics with leadership, integrity, and a commitment to service.

It was a wonderful privilege to hear recent @SamHoustonState master’s graduate Matthew Brown’s composed work “Viris Fortibus.” Beautiful piece, beautifully performed Saturday by the SHSU Chorale. @shsucam

I didn’t get a good pic of the women’s bb game today, but I want to acknowledge how fun they’ve been to watch this season. Love their spirit!

Last night’s activities started with a wonderful concert by SHSU Symphony Orchestra (Dean Vest & I were proud!) and ended with an impressive @BearkatsMBB win at home. The campus was hopping, and the audience and fans were energetic. I love this time of year!

Who gets to go to root for the Bearkats at an exciting baseball game then attend great performances of the SHSU Concert Band & the Symphonic Orchestra? This fortunate prez! It’s a privilege to see the excellent work of our students.

Tonight’s wind ensemble concert was one of the best 2 or 3 I’ve attended EVER. Stunning performances, powerful arrangements, & engaging program. Bravo!

So excited that the fabulous SHSU Ballet Folklorico will perform at tonight’s Wind Ensemble concert. They’re amazing. And, of course, our wind ensemble is exceptional. @SHSU_CAM.

Today’s face-to-face scholarship luncheon reminds us that generosity changes lives. Bringing students and donors together makes the impact of scholarships personal, meaningful, and lasting.

Proud to celebrate the grand opening of our new Health Professions Building in Conroe. Academic programs in physical therapy, physician assistant studies, athletic training & dietetics will produce health professionals who will provide better health care for our region.

It was a pleasure to spend time tonight with the Walker County Alumni & Friends. It’s especially gratifying that this annual event is a fundraiser for student scholarships. Our alumni give back!
