Crews are building the foundations for the elevated guideway in Langley near Production Way and Fraser Highway! Driven piles are being built into the ground to support the future guideway.

Spring has arrived! Can you spot the similarities between these two?🌷 Tulip columns continue to take shape along Fraser Highway, with more than 60% of the guideway columns now complete. Named for their distinctive form, these columns will support the future elevated guideway.

Near 150 Street, an elevated guideway segment is being prepared for installation. Fun fact: one individual segment weighs approximately 28 tonnes!

Near Green Timbers Station, the future guideway is starting to take shape. Can you see it down the centre of the Fraser Highway?

You may have noticed wildlife in some unusual places along the Project alignment. Decoy wildlife have been placed throughout the Project area as part of our environmental measures. These fake animals prevent bird nesting on structures during construction!

Here is an aerial view of Bakerview-166 Street Station. The Fleetwood Flyer has finished building the elevated guideway in this area and is moving west towards 152 Street Station.

The four #SurreyLangleySkyTrain launching gantries that are building the project’s elevated guideway are each more than 100 m long! These specialized lifting machines are installing 4,400+ guideway segments along the alignment. Learn more: ow.ly/v72c50XLN8k

More pieces of rail are arriving in preparation for track installation! The rail is first delivered to a storage area. They will then be transported to the guideway for installation.

Following completion of a span, the launching gantry slides over to build the next section of the elevated guideway along the alignment. The launching gantries use the previously constructed columns as support!

Crews are installing driven piles using a vibratory hammer as part of ongoing foundation work at the station sites. This unique equipment uses high frequency vibrations to loosen soil particles to drive piles into the ground.

Fun fact alert 🚨 Each #SurreyLangleySkyTrain elevated guideway span is generally made up of 12 segments between 2 columns. Within station sites, a typical span is made of 5 segments! Need a refresher on what a span is? Check out this post: ow.ly/Zh3e50XmbIm

Crews apply a high-strength epoxy, which is a specialized construction glue, to the edges of each segment to join them together. Next, steel cables, also known as tendons, are threaded through the group of segments and pulled tightly, locking them together to form a span.

Can you guess what these pipes are for? These pipes are called conduits! The conduits are part of the 16-kilometre underground duct bank that is being built to help power the future SkyTrain. Electrical lines are placed inside the conduits for protection.

Here’s a peek at the inside of a #SurreyLangleySkyTrain elevated guideway span. Spans are made up of guideway segments that are joined together. Cables are threaded through the pipes inside of the segments and then pulled tightly, locking them together to form a span.
