For those new to this scandal, Shah's brother is a convicted money launderer. Her childhood friend is Irish Imy, convicted heroin dealer and getaway driver for a cop killer. She is regularly seen in his company, including riding through town in the passenger seat of his Bentley. She celebrated her election victory with a convicted kidnapper and torturer. For years Shah blocked a council vote for a public inquiry into the Pakistani rape gangs and used Andy Burnham's police force to target those who campaigned against the cover-up. At the same time, she openly endorsed physical attacks on her political opponents. No mainstream political party will speak the truth of what is happening in towns like mine. Journalists not only refuse to touch it, some help hide it. Those from the communities I come from know exactly what awaits them if they speak out. Recently, a potential opposition candidate had his car set alight and his family home set on fire. His mother was inside. He has since stepped down from running against Shah's candidate. The Prime Minister knows. He and his party depend on this arrangement with Pakistani Muslims like Shah to stay in power. Shah is not an exception. Across the country, the Labour Party is infested with Pakistani politicians just like her. We still have a little time left to save our nation from what is coming. One of the hereditary peers being kicked out by Labour, in flagrant defiance of the bargain it made in 1998, is the Earl of Leicester. He just raised a question about the proposed ban on trail hunting, which will waste parliamentary time and police resources to no purpose whatever. His question was thoughtful, measured and informed, and Labour peers began to interrupt him, claiming that he was talking for too long. He politely responded that, as this was his first and last oral question in the chamber, he intended to ask it properly. He is one of the 92 diligent and service-driven peers being thanklessly and gracelessly removed to make room for more placemen. It is perhaps especially poignant in his case as an earlier Earl of Leicester was Simon de Montfort, who called the first English Parliament, and whose image adorns the US Congress; and also because he is descended from Sir Edward Coke, the Elizabethan and Jacobean jurist who, as much as anyone, encoded our modern understanding of parliamentary supremacy and freedom under the law. This is what snapping the thread of history looks like.

We are absolutely heartbroken that this is how low Britain has sunk. This horrific act truly plumbs new depths. Hatzola is a volunteer-run ambulance service run by the Jewish community but catering to everyone, Jews and non-Jews alike, working with the NHS to save lives as fast as possible. They provide outstanding medical care at lightning speed every hour of every day, and fundraise to buy ambulances and equipment. They are truly a shining example of the Jewish community coming together to help everyone in the most fundamental of ways by giving the gift of life. Burning their ambulances in an attempt to put them out of action is a truly repulsive act of antisemitic hatred in a Britain where Jews now have to keep everything from schools to synagogues under constant guard. Our society has become infested with the sickness of antisemitism. In this case it is not only about catching the perpetrators and restoring the ambulances, but about politicians accepting that by tolerating everything from hate marches to hate preachers, they have created this sickening mess, and time has run out for them to act. The law must change, fast, but so must society. The people spewing obsessive conspiracy theories about Jews, Zionists and Israelis are not social justice warriors, they are hateful bigots who are feeding this madness and must be stood up to and told as much by ordinary decent people.

Let’s set the record straight: One Iranian ballistic missile failed in flight — malfunctioned mid-flight or broke up on re-entry. Either way it never reached the target area. The other was engaged/intercepted by a U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer nearby, which fired an SM-3 interceptor at it and destroyed it. UK forces played no part in the defence of Diego Garcia. Nor do they have the capability to do so. Mr Reed says UK won’t be dragged into the US’s War. Fair enough. But he’s happy for the US to defend what is a British base — and didn’t even thank them for it.
