It’s weird that liberals have become afraid of “the carceral state” that they’d let someone with an infectious disease (TB) and under multiple isolation orders just go free.
Would it be different if he had covid and wasn’t wearing a mask?

Everyone's letting them have it for this (and with good reason), but I do think it reflects a fairly widespread view in Canada — viz. that harsh criticism of public institutions amounts to an act of lèse-majesté.

There is a railway that is effectively a straight line from Toronto to Montreal. Shown in BLUE. Building high speed rail along it would make sense. Instead, the Liberals propose a boondoggle of a line, shown in RED, that goes through all these communities they need to win.

We went from protecting taxis from Uber to protecting Uber from Waymo. The irony of yesterday's disruptors becoming protectionists is very public choice coded.

More and more politicians are suggesting that Waymo and AVs more broadly should be legalized only after studies can show that they won't impact ride share jobs. This is a reasonable-sounding rule that would also ban buses, bike lanes, and car ownership in general.
