I am not ignoring the supply growth I always pointed that circulation was increasing until few months ago. Would the current tokenomics be more attractive in better market conditions? Time will tell, There will be a limit anyway as price rising faster than volume will reduce deflation so the model has contraints.

@Sebabesse @maxibeliever It would be fair to also mention elephants in the room: 1. Crypto market falls for the last 5 months and currently is in extreme fear phase; 2. Cake circulation supply decrease began only 6 months ago. You can't expect it to compensate 4 years of huge circulation supply growth.

The tokenomics selling point of "only deflation" was that with more buy backs than emissions there will be a return generated to holders through price increase. It appears it is not so simplistic. With no other utility, holders are not patient and prefer a real APR instead of a growing share of supply.

C'est surprenant que dès l'introduction de la séquence il y ait des reproches de récupération politique. Ce n'est pas un fait divers interprété sous le prisme d'une idéologie politique. L'origine du conflit qui a mené au drame est politique. Certains protagonistes eux-mêmes étaient employés par un parti politique au parlement. Il n'y a rien qui ne soit pas politique. Si les personnalités politiques ne parviennent pas à se remettre en cause c'est qu'ils ne possèdent pas le recul et la réflection que l'on devrait exiger d'eux et que seul l'acquisition du pouvoir les intéresse. Quant aux réseaux sociaux, ce sont les politiciens eux-mêmes qui attisent les conflits. Une conclusion des derniers jours serait peut être que les parlementaires ont un devoir de retenu en ligne et que leur code de conduite devrait s'étendre à leur postes sur les reseaux sociaux

There was no max cap supply that’s true but the total supply was finite (total minted in the smart contract). Price was stimulated by double digit APR for staking, for syrup pools and for farming. With also 2/3 of supply locked in the staking pool. Demand for Cake was outpacing the minting rate. Today the demand is essentially buy backs for burns. Current price is good for a strong deflation but until when will they run the current tokenomics? If the main goal is to drive deflation to its limit then it will be a while. To the point where buybacks have stimulated the price up so that weekly supply change are close to 0 (assuming trading volume does not decrease). Given the size of current weekly supply changes, we are still far from the balance between trading volume and Cake price.

@Sebabesse there’s no upside for CAKE’s price in sight. Even though CAKE is a profitable project, but it’s doing nothing for its price action.

A lot of good points. Deflation as the only utility always felt strange to me. A Good utility brings demand and therefore boosts farm APR helping liquidity. One thing I didn’t see mentioned is that when the tokenomics U-turns occurred, a lot of the supply was locked. Circulating supply has only peaked 4 months ago at 337m (while total supply peaked 2 year before that). Before deflation was not strong enough to compensate Cake reentering the market. Apart from creating a marketing point (that did not have so much effect) a big consequence of a strong deflation is to reinforce the position of large holders at no cost. Let’s see the voting dynamics next time there is an important proposal (reducing total supply is a non event as it only changes a limit well above the current supply)
