Breaking: 11-year-old Black girl surrounded and attacked by group of Aviara Oaks Middle School students at Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad. Students yell racial slurs, block her bike, and slap her in the face while she says “I just want to go home.” Carlsbad Police and school district now investigating as possible hate crime/bullying.

A 3-year-old little girl is dead. Alexander Lamar Banks Jr. was arrested after police say he intentionally ran down a White family with his car — killing their 3-year-old daughter. Authorities say he then got out with a shotgun, opened fire on the parents, and brutally attacked a 72-year-old woman who rushed in to help. The parents are hospitalized in stable condition. The elderly woman is fighting for her life. This should be national news. I’m sick of stories like this being buried. I’m tired of innocent children being treated like they don’t matter. I’m tired of families being destroyed and the story barely making a ripple. A 3-year-old is gone forever. That should matter.
