“The #HighSeas are the engine of life that keeps the whole planet habitable. What we do in this space is incredibly important to the rest of life on earth. We could fundamentally break that whole system with devastating planetary consequences” – @prof_callumyork #COP25

@mixotrophe I started a dedicated Twitter account for each area of interest. Then curated followers to only the smartest people in each field. I now get a daily update of the best stuff. You also get a really informed community for discussion.

Reconstructing Australia’s great southern shellfish reef will be good for fishing, good for climate change and fabulous for biodiversity. Everyone is a winner.

Sounds like Florida needs some more mangroves, shellfish reef, coral and sea grass to hold those lovely beaches in place.
Yale Environment 360@YaleE360

Since the 1950s, Florida authorities have spent $1.3 billion periodically bringing in sand. Despite a huge effort, nearly half the state’s 825 miles of beaches are now considered “critically eroded”. @guardian reports: theguardian.com/us-news/2019/o…

Thanks. The S1 data was a great help. How many eco regions do you think will support restoration? I.e what threshold value should I use to identify targets?
