I have worked & stayed in different countries in my 33 years of working life. Travelled to myriad other countries for leisure. No where I've faced poorer work culture than my own country. It's frustrating to do business in fast, productive & efficient way. Most people in private sector are demotivated or over smart; many pretend to know everything w/o knowing the basics of their jobs & oblivious of the critical and fundamental difference between intelligence and cleverness. Many think being clever is a substitute of being intelligent & diligent. In Public sector, problem of accountability is completely absent. Bureaucracy, in their functioning & attitude still live in an era of the past. Their attitude has always been that of the rulers & their subjects not the 'civil servants' & citizens. A great nation is built on great work ethics and mutual trust in impersonal transactions. Physical infrastructure is brick & mortar of development but the glue that binds a great nation is built on great work ethics & mutual trust among strangers! Our political, social & business leaders failed us miserably in this area for last many generations. Nepotism, dynastic politics, corruption, apathy, lack of basic civic amenities bear testimony to this.
