I have never played a Final Fantasy game, so I was excited to try the demo for XVI. I played for an hour, 50 minutes of which I was watching cut scenes, and I confusedly wondered what I was missing. This video informed me that I was missing nothing, and I feel vindicated.

I’ve been in the FFXVI demo for over 40 minutes and actually played for maybe 4 of them.

My hot take is Lightfall’s NARRATIVE failed to compellingly set up its core mysteries, characters and settings to the point its resolution felt meaningless. @TrekGeekBill I don’t begrudge the joy nostalgia brings people, but I’m *personally* bummed by how many things in Picard that were swept aside to build the climax of Ep 9. I’d list them all, but don’t wanna pay for Twitter Blue 😂 My feelings are less anti-nostalgia and more pro-evolution.

Nostalgia has value, but often comes at the cost of originality or integrity. Here, it doesn’t detract from the plot of the S3 mystery box, but it takes up so much space that whole characters, plot lines and backstories were dismissed so it could happen. That’s a big impact.
