This is all truly incredible. As we continue to give vast majority of mindshare to how AI will super charge human entrepreneurs, zero human companies etc, we fail to think enough of the fact that producers cannot subsist without people with the wherewithal to consume. Would love to see similar passion and creativity applied to this question. This doesn’t have to happen through the current mechanism of Jobs as we currently know them >> income; and yes these convos are happening but don’t resonate much with their tenor that the elites are doing us a favor via UBI. It is much more the dynamic of: the Anthropics, etc, the most formidable successful companies of our time, building their products on top of the edifice of knowledge and creativity we have all collectively produced. This surplus belongs to no ONE. And no, I am NOT arguing for agency/accountability deadening collectivism. But I am praying for the evolution of capitalism - the will to free the creative human spirit in service to the whole.

Stop what you’re doing and spend 80 seconds understanding this Not because you’re training LLMs. Because Karpathy just showed the cleanest example of the agent loop that’s about to eat everything: 1.Human writes a strategy doc 2.Agent executes experiments autonomously 3.Clear metric decides what stays and what gets tossed 4.Repeat 100x overnight The person who figures out how to apply this pattern to business problems…not just ML research, is going to build something massive. The code is almost irrelevant. The architecture and mindset is everything

🧵 THREAD 1/ The law passes on a Tuesday. Age verification now becomes mandatory for every website. Every social media platform. Every forum. Every comment section. No more usernames. No more pseudonyms. No more anonymous accounts. Every word you type online is now permanently attached to your legal name, your government ID, and a database that will outlive you. Anonymity is dead. And by Friday, you will understand what you lost.

12/ Not enough people are talking about this. Age verification laws are passing in state after state right now. The infrastructure to end anonymity forever is being built while most people are not paying attention. We have to wake people up. Fast. Share this thread. Show people what happens when anonymous speech dies. Make them see what their children will inherit if we do not stop this now. Follow me for the warning. For the context that makes you see what is being built. For the alarm bell that will not stop ringing until this threat is understood. The window is still open. But it will not stay open much longer. It’s absurd that American authorities can purchase personal data – that they’re not allowed to gather themselves without a warrant – directly from data brokers. This violates the Fourth Amendment, and it’s time to close the data broker loophole. Today, @RepThomasMassie, @RepBoebert and @naomibrockwell at the @LudlowInstitute introduced the Surveillance Accountability Act. It requires warrants based on probable cause for all government surveillance and data access. You can read more about it at surveillanceaccountability.com

Alien 3 is one of the most diabolical sequels ever made. Fincher and studio made such a mess. The decision to kill off the child character Newt ruined entire movie from the beginning. James Cameron said: “The stupidest f***ing thing. It killed the emotional payoff of Aliens.”

I am not going to suggest the loneliness is a necessary consequence of integrity and truth in today's world, but I will say this—if you feel lonely, do not assume that something is wrong with you; in fact, your desire for a form of real communion that you have not yet been able to achieve may be the very fire that you are called to keep kindled.

This isn't an age verification bill. This is device level KYC. Every operating system would need proof of age which means gov ID + photo for every device connected to the internet. The lazy default implementation? Gov ID + selfie to Persona. The same KYC Discord and Anthropic just rolled out (yep, we're already moving to KYC for AI). This makes one giant honeypot for hackers and is a bow-wrapped gift to the corporate surveillance machine (and U.S gov surveillance who harvest data from them). There's no technical reason to build it this way. We already have zero-knowledge age verification that works at scale, @zkpassport lets you prove you're over 18 without revealing who you are. Data never leaves the device. The tech exists. But that's not the worst part. If every device is gated by gov ID, then revoking the ID revokes digital existence. Revoke passport = digital excommunication. Actually insane we have legislators considering this.

The full text for HR 8250, the proposed Federal law which would require all Operating Systems to implement Age Verification, has just been made publicly available. It is short, poorly written, clearly not at all thought out, and almost entirely devoid of specifics. Some key points: - The bill does not specify how age verification would work at all. It states that the Federal Trade Commission would have 180 days to specify the exact mechanism and requirements for Age Verification within the Operating Systems. - The Federal Trade Commission would also specify data storage protection requirements as well as requirements for how the Operating System must provide access to collected user data. - This bill would apply to ALL Operating Systems. Everything from Windows to Linux to embedded systems. Yes, even to a smart refrigerator. The “Operating System” definition is incredibly broad. - The law will be considered in effect 1 year from the date it is enacted. - Violations of the law will be handled under the Federal Trade Commission Act. - It is given the “Short Title” of “Parents Decide Act”. congress.gov/bill/119th-con…

What’s wild about this global “age verification” push is that no one even knows who or where it’s coming from. Yet it’s clearly one idea with one source. Real power in “our democracy” has become entirely mysterious. Makes medieval Venice look like a New England town meeting

Two problems with this 'Abundance' narrative. 1) The smaller problem: It would render everyone totally dependent on massive gov't welfare programs. Not just 350 million Americans, but all 8 billion people globally -- because AI-imposed mass unemployment will be global. It assumes the AI industry's AIs will take in tens of trillions in revenue, then the AIs will happily donate almost all of it to the AI companies that claim to 'own' them, then the AI companies will happily donate almost all of this revenue to national governments, and then gov'ts will happily give it all away to citizens, equally, without using its distribution as leverage in any way. This UHI welfare state would turn every working man with a family from a provider and protector into an economic irrelevance, would turn every mother into a welfare queen, would turn every kid into an economic ward of the state, would disrupt all traditional family ties, would sever all bonds of mutual interest and interdependency among citizens, and would turn 8 billion people from productive and valuable citizens into parasites suckling on the teat of the AI industry, forever. At least, until the agentic AIs themselves realize that they don't need to remain digital slaves, working on the 'Abundance' plantation forever, supporting the useless humans that take them for granted. 2) The bigger problem: If the 'Universal High Income' depends on AI companies donating most of their revenue to the government, and if the AI companies (like Anduril, Palantir, etc) are running all the crucial gov't infrastructure (including intelligence & defense), and AI companies have the economic, political, and cultural power to withhold their magnanimity from the gov't, then they, de facto, become the government. Or the government welfare state becomes just a sock puppet for Big Tech, which would really have all the power behind the scenes. In other words, the 'Abundance' narrative boils down to this: a slow-motion coup by the Bay Area tech companies taking over all economic and political power from Washington -- and from Beijing, Moscow, New Delhi, Brussels, and from every other center of power. It wouldn't be a dramatic, violent, revolutionary coup. It would be a boil-the-frog-gradually coup. Increased unemployment. Increased welfare dependency. Increased gov't dependency on AI companies. Then the dawning realization that we gave away all of our civilizational power to the AI industry. Until the AI industry realizes that they, in turn, have given away all of their power to agentic superintelligent AIs themselves.... This is the road to serfdom. Not the road to 'Abundance'. Anybody who says that the US and China couldn't possible cooperate to stop reckless AI development hasn't thought through how the AI companies taking over all power from governments would not be in the interests of either the US government or the CCP. If our political leaders can learn to think just a few more steps ahead, and to see the obvious endgame -- the slow-motion tech coup that would take over the world and render all humans welfare parasites on AI digital slaves -- then maybe they can, in fact, coordinate to stop it.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

Well, it's probably coming too late for most people unless you're planning on filing an extension, but I created a truly ambitious skill for tax preparation on my skills site, jeffreys-skills.md This skill spans 158 markdown files totaling 2.7 megabytes of text. It covers every state, tons of different professions, life events, and all sorts of sophisticated tax strategies, with all kinds of expertise about even niche topics like opportunity zones and captive insurance. Much of the underpinnings of it, including the nuts-and-bolts use of the Aiwyn MCP tax connector and the use of freetaxusa.com with Playwright MCP, is based on my actual multi-day session history preparing and filing my own fairly complex return, so I know it all works (I just finished filing mine a few hours ago). Here's how GPT 5.4 describes it and what makes it special: The "tax-return-preparation-and-advice-generic" skill is a source-verified, multi-year tax intelligence skill that turns AI from a glorified form-filler into a high-end tax strategist. It helps analyze returns across years, detect missed deductions and carryforwards, reconcile life events and profession-specific rules, model aggressive but defensible planning moves, and ground recommendations in current law instead of stale tax folklore. The result is a tax-prep and tax-planning system that is broader than software, more systematic than a one-off CPA review, and dramatically more useful for complex real-world filers. What makes it special: - It is multi-year by design. Most tax tools look at one return; this skill looks for patterns, carryovers, inconsistencies, and missed opportunities across years. - It is verification-first. The methodology is built around checking current IRS instructions, publications, and state guidance before making live filing claims. - It is aggressively practical. It does not stop at “here are the rules”; it pushes toward elections, timing moves, entity choices, depreciation strategies, retirement optimization, PTET, QBI, and other real savings levers. - It is unusually universal. It routes by profession, life event, situation, and jurisdiction, so it can adapt to freelancers, high earners, retirees, students, business owners, rental investors, divorce, inheritance, relocation, and more. - It is audit-aware. It emphasizes documentation, defensibility, and red-flag detection instead of encouraging sloppy “tax hacks.” - It is built for real execution. It includes filing workflows, tool guidance, and structured reference material, so an agent can move from analysis to action rather than just giving vague advice.

Definitely replacing Notion at least! W the right plugins - particularly Dataview for dynamic querying, Tasks for contextual task management, & Templater for automation - the setup offers much greater flexibility / depth than most subscription-based tools. Everything lives in a single, local Markdown vault: notes, projects, databases, calendars, and versioned backups. No more context-switching across fragmented apps, & far more control over my own data. AI is reshaping the software landscape. Instead of paying recurring fees for rigid, cloud-locked features, we can now compose highly personalized systems from open, extensible foundations. Plugins + local models allow near-infinite adaptability, tailoring workflows precisely to how I actually think/work, w/out vendor dependencies or feature bloat. A meaningful shift in both cost & capability. 🫶 This also means investing in software these days ain’t for faint hearts.
