**Exciting News, Everyone!** The Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden in Manito Park will open tomorrow (April 1)! The garden will be open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.

The Spokane River is currently raging at 20,000 cubic feet per second. That’s enough water to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool in under 5 seconds! 💧💧💧

Join us this Saturday from noon-2pm in the Woodland Center at Finch Arboretum to learn about pine beetles including regional impacts, types of beetles and their lifecycles, what to expect in future years, and tips for management and prevention. Featuring special guest Dana Brennan, Washington DNR’s Northeast Region Forest Health Specialist. This free workshop is geared for the entire community – from tree lovers to homeowners to landscape and tree professionals alike, everyone is welcome to attend.

What’s that smell?? It’s the Voodoo Lily in full bloom at the Gaiser Conservatory in Manito Park! Voodoo Lily’s (Amorphophallus) have a notoriously foul smell, often described as rotting flesh or spoiled meat, designed to attract pollinators like flies and beetles. This flower only blooms for a few days so swing by the conservatory and give it a whiff, if you dare. 💀

This work is part of an important ongoing effort to both increase Forest Health and reduce wildfire risk across the City of Spokane. Want to learn more?
