Big solar scoop this morning. @SwiftSolarPV is about to mount the U.S.'s last, best attempt to be a massive player in the solar industry. It has acquired a bunch of tech assets, IP and key people from Meyer Burger, the onetime Swiss/German solar giant. The old stuff will be paired with Swift's perovskite solar tech in a bid to try and outflank China's solar industry with more efficient, cheaper cells. Excited to announce our latest work in @AdvMat: 'Spectroscopic Performance of CsPbBr3 Perovskite γ-Ray Detectors Despite Grain Boundaries.' CsPbBr3 shows remarkable defect tolerance, maintaining spectroscopic resolution even with grain boundaries. While grain boundaries are typically viewed as detrimental in crystals for gamma-ray and X-ray photon counting detectors, our results indicate that CsPbBr3 can tolerate them without compromising spectroscopic performance, potentially enabling more scalable fabrication processes.
