And people wonder why there’s an epidemic of depression & anxiety. Nothing feels good rn for people young, old or in between and it hasn’t for a long time. Unless you’re financially cushioned or blessed with extraordinary resilience, all of us are feeling it in one way or another.

Brits are immensely stressed about everything and broke. Not sure the raising of the terror threat with fanfare helps anyone nor is it our burden to carry. It’s for the government, our security agencies and the police to handle. And yes, after 7/10 and Iran it would already be high - talk about stating the bleeding obvious. 😖

Not sure about this. If the Met are going to come charging in on every retweet, fine. But they’re gong to need to be consistent. And a week from very important elections is strange timing.

“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.

🚨 EXC: Marco Rubio has dismissed the Falklands row as ‘just an email’ — pouring cold water on Argentina’s claims to the islands. America’s top diplomat told @Telegraph the diplomatic crisis triggered by last week’s leaked memo was overblown. It’s unclear if the King (still sovereign of the islands) raised it directly with Trump at the White House. But it is understood Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper discussed the issue with Rubio in Washington on Wednesday while the King was in New York.

50 years, and eleven Prime Ministers later. On May Day 1976 my best friend and I (both aged 15 with aspirations to become press photographers) skipped school to doorstep the new Labour Prime Minister James Callaghan as he was visiting a union conference in our home town.

What a stupid reduction/deduction from the usual quarters. And I’m not remotely of the left, I want terrorists on the ground immediately, police safe - their tactics in the heat of the moment unquestioned because it doesn’t help them going forward - and no Jews harmed. Tasering was essential but maybe also meant he couldn’t drop the knife. Think the piece through, guys. 🤦🏽‍♀️
spiked@spikedonline

There’s literally nothing wrong with kicking a terror suspect in the head – especially if he refuses to relinquish a weapon. The left’s condemnation of the cops in Golders Green is nuts. These people don’t care if Jews live or die, says Stephen Knight buff.ly/HtEiPi4

Also it’s feeding the far right. “Give the filthy immigrant a good kicking” etc. Rupert Lowe leading the charge. That is not in the police’s interest either.

Big fan of Rowley, big fan of the police (they deserve a pay rise btw), big fan of what they did yesterday in Golders Green - bar the head kicking. Reasonable force is legally permissible, strikes to/stomping on /kicking the head is not. Rowley knows that. Kick him anywhere else but not the head. I have no time whatsoever for ZP but footage of officers head-kicking is what undermines the police. They look like footie hooligans. I’d rather they were properly armed and getting someone down is quicker/less messy. I think Rowley’s got this wrong. GMP suspended an officer for similar tactics and referred themselves to the police watchdog.
