I explained this exact reason, just from a different angle how OPay processes transactions so fast. In the thread, I broke down how traditional banking systems work compared to the newer approach OPay uses. If you’re interested in going deeper, I wrote a full article on it a few weeks ago. Take your time to read it, and anyone interested can also go through it: x.com/akintola_steve…

What exactly did OPAY do to get so much acceptance from Nigerians🇳🇬?

@foundr Humans are productive in nature. They feel motivated when they build something. Build something that makes you motivated and proud.

Immediately you get out of school, chasing big names should matter more than chasing money. Yes, names before money. And fortunately, a lot of these companies have many opportunities for you that actually gives you both. Working at places like Google, Microsoft, Deloitte etc compounds your credibility. It changes how recruiters, founders, and even your peers treat you for the rest of your career. Opportunities come faster and you’re not constantly trying to prove yourself from scratch. A lot of people will tell you “just focus on learning, it doesn’t matter where you work.” I don’t fully agree. Where you learn matters. The environment matters. The standard around you matters. At the start of your career? Brand is leverage. Take it seriously. I had no idea then but I do now and I’m sharing.

You're a mature man. 97% of your stress should be about making money, elevating in life, and building your future. Not about who is not talking to you. Focus on your future, not your feelings.

Saving money is stupid. It’s the starting line, sure. Most people treat a full savings account like that measures their wealth. What you need to do is save first. Then put that money to work. Into yourself, into a business or mentorships. Your brain is a super power.

Power doesn't corrupt. But it does reveal truths. Influence and power create a feeling of safety; they remove social costs. This means predicting how someone will behave with power is done through observing how they behave in small moments of relative advantage. How they respond to winning or being right directly reveals their trajectory. The signs are there. Don't ignore them.

When you’re poor, you have neither the time nor resources to reflect on the deeper meaning of life. You dedicate your intelligence to merely staying alive. Who can say that there are no Shakespeares or Einsteins among the poorest of the poor! Poverty will make sure that their intelligence never sees the light.

@tosinolaseinde Poverty doesn't just take money. It takes bandwidth. When every thought is consumed by rent, food and survival there is no cognitive space left for curiosity, creativity or wonder.

If you are a tech bro or sis in Nigeria and you are adding internet fraud to the career, you are short sighted Stop doing fraud on the side, people are watching that 5-10 million naira that you have made from upwork or salary savings, use it to build a legitimate side hustle - You can rent a shop in your neighborhood and start bringing items from China to sell there. - You can rent a shop and start selling indomie and semo in cartons to retailers in your neighborhood and on social media - You can import handbags and hair with that your 2-3m and start selling online with the help of cheap ads. You can build a hair and accessories brand easily in a year and be making millions in profit Stop behaving like an illiterate. There is a reason why most of the fraudsters in Nigeria are illiterates or poorly educated. Its their thing. You are a tech person, you can make money from your craft and build the biggest FMCG distribution channel in your state. Be pragmatic and think well. think. That 2 million that you are throwing on those gadgets and fine dining monthly, that 2 million can be your seed fund for the biggest hair and accessories line in your state or region Be different and stop fraud.

The craziest thing about building software is when your application fails silently and no one knows where the bug is coming from. At least when you see an error and can trace its source, it gives you a clear idea of how to fix it. But silent failures? Those are the most dangerous.

Game theory explains why you must never let someone know you need them: Once your dependency is visible, your leverage disappears. The negotiation ends immediately. Their behavior shifts and their strategies adjust. They stop trying to earn your trust and start managing your expectations.
