@cb_natan @DeeboComingg @stats_feed More than half of these 129 goals were friendlies and of the ones that were official games 45 goals were in the São Paulo state championship, that means it doesn't count

The Roman gentry of Africa (modern Tunisia) survived through both the Vandal & Byzantine periods. It wasn't until the 11th century that they were fully swept away in an act of spite by the Fatimids.

While Iran’s high nobility lost power to the Arabs, the local gentry remained Persian. They & their descendants would preserve, synthesize, and advance Persianate culture. By contrast the old Roman gentry of Levant & Egypt seems to have been wiped out in the 602-628 bloodletting.

Here’s your reminder that the bimodal differences between the sexes can only exist because sex is binary. A bimodal distribution has two modes and implies two groups being compared. Two separate distributions of a given trait. One for males. One for females.

Herodotus wrote how the Athenians reassured Sparta they wouldn’t defect to the Persian side by invoking their shared Greek blood, language, religion & customs. But liberals will still look you in the eye and say nationalism just magically appeared one day in 1848.

The Greeks did not single out Athena for her eye color in their art. γλαυκῶπις was not thought of as reflecting her eye color.

The sacred bird of Athena is called the "Glauka" (Little Owl). One of the epithets of the Goddess Athena was "γλαυκώπις" (glaukopis), meaning "bright-eyed" or "owl-eyed" because of her sparkling blue eyes. Chris Nolan has disrespected us Greeks.

@RolloRouen After Caracalla, everyone born in the Roman Empire became a Roman Citizen, greek was spoken by the aristocracy way before the fall as well so one could say greek is a Roman language too

There's no degree to which Byzantium was *more* civilizationally Roman than the countries who continued to speak Latin to this very day. You could argue that the east was never really "Roman" to begin with, in a cultural sense!

@iosif_lazaridis You don't even understand the basic use of "and" which conglomerate diverse elements without exclude them: "arabic translations and byzantine translations", you correct them as if those elements were either a disjunction or exclude themselves... Yet you "correct" a translation.

@Tom_Rowsell IQ isn’t a measure of general intelligence, more so of analytical ability. Have you taken an IQ test yourself?

@Tom_Rowsell Btw, people of S. Italian descent (among the closest modern pops to the ancient Greeks genetically) tend to do quite well economically in the US. It's therefore hard to believe that, once integrated into similar environments, they wouldn't perform similarly on IQ tests to N Euros

Movies about Ancient Greece and Rome used to be made to entertain the chuds, and so academic historians would make thousands of posts criticizing the films’ inaccuracies. Now movies about Ancient Greece and Rome are made to own the chuds, and so academic historians make thousands of posts defending the films’ inaccuracies.

@RomeInTheEast @Badopinions4 Constantinian Empire would be more accurate as Rome come from Romulus and Constantinople comes from Constantine, either way it's bad

@Badopinions4 I won’t go that far. Some people use the term Byzantine and have good intentions. To them it means Eastern Roman but they like that term. Some use it with bad intentions, like this fellow.

The Eastern Roman Empire was not a successor state. It was a direct and uninterrupted continuation of the Roman state. Hope that clears it up.

@Byzness Imagine claiming the Byzantines (Greeks) were the true Roman successor state when it was Charlemagne and later the HRE.
