A tester has found that recent digital purchases on PlayStation now include a 30-day license validation timer. When the console’s CMOS battery dies and the internal clock resets, these games become unplayable even on a primary console, requiring an online connection to revalidate the license. Older digital titles without this timer continue to launch and play normally offline despite a dead CMOS battery.

PlayStation has started emailing adult accounts in the UK and Ireland asking them to verify their age. You scan a QR code with your phone and confirm your age using your mobile number, a government ID, or a quick face scan with a company called Yoti. It’s optional for now, but from June 2026 you’ll need to do it to use voice chat, text messaging, parties and other communication features. You can still play games and buy stuff normally if you skip it. This change is to follow the UK’s Online Safety Act and help “protect” younger players online.

@Grummz Should split teams up. So a 1000 team is made into 4 teams of 250 all with a 50mill budget. Then if one hit you put 2 teams on it for the sequel with 100mil budget. The other 3 can be put on gamepass/extra to give that more value

Well, Forbes just confirmed that Marathon cost $250 Million to make. Throw in marketing and you are close to 400-450 million by AAA standards. Concord was also $200 Million to make. so another 400. Sony isn't going to shut down Marathon because execs would look really stupid losing nearly a billion dollars to hero and extraction shooters twice in a row. But this is a unmitigated disaster. In what world do extraction shooters cost 200M to make? All of Destiny 1 was 185M in adjusted dollars, and that was a huge game. Budgets in AAA are obviously out of whack, and it was during Covid that team sizes ballooned for no good reason except the money was flowing. They expected the returns and growth to keep going, it never did. Covid demand was a peak, not a trend, driven by lockdowns (bored people played games) and stimulus money. AAA studios must downsized and do so quickly. AA and Indie games have shown you can deliver superior returns for 1/10 to 1/20th the cost. But more than that, it's time to listen to the chuds if AAA wants to survive.

@DannyLimanseta For the same reason we run simulations: to observe interesting outcomes. That’s why the most interesting outcome, especially if ironically entertaining, is the most likely: all the boring simulations were terminated.

I had dinner once with a top physicist and a top computer scientist and asked what they thought the probability was that we were in a simulation. They answered simultaneously at 0% and 100% respectively. It was like a double-slit experiment, but with humans.

BOOM 💥 The DS20 Mirage in Black Ops 7 has a DOUBLE BARREL GRENADE LAUNCHER as its Prestige Attachment and it is pretty fun to use 🤣 It is definitely not overpowered in BO7 as flak jacket easily counters it but worth a try for fun 😂

@cleckylad The problem is simple. All those you said have to follow laws etc made by the government. The government make the rules so they could basically do anything they want once they have all your information by simply changing the laws whilst those you said can't change the laws/rules

When I buy something from Amazon they know my card number,address and preferences.. Shop at Tesco they know my email address, preferences etc. Use my debit card at an ATM they know exactly where I am Use my mobile,I can be tracked easily So WTAF is the problem with ID CARDS ❓
