@TheSeahawk1973 Yah in any deal the centrepiece has to be an elite level prospect or two. Every conversation I have has to involve the absolute best 2 players 22ish and under in each organization. No interest in picks that might turn into something 5 years from now.

@coreylandsberg Yes Hughes deal as a template . Why some fan bases think they can acquire any frontline Players under 30 without giving up their top prospects is my mind boggling . Every US team will be in on all 3 and there is no scenario where I deal 23 to Mtl or even in the division

@coreylandsberg I concur . However , I do believe there is chance , if they turn those three into 5 high ceiling rosters players, move a goalie , move out 44 and bring in a new coach that they could surprise a lot people . Those 3 need to net you 2 high ceiling defenseman at least

@TheSeahawk1973 Agreed. The way they make this worse is by making decisions on the future based on their egos. If they want to retool instead of rebuild then fine, but the reason shouldn't be because it'll look bad because of the 2 picks.

@coreylandsberg Why does everyone think trading 34 88 and 23 means a rebuild .. it depends on what age you target . 88 for mintyukov Mctavish . 23 for Ryker Evans and Catton .. those are proven players . Move Cowan and woll for Thomas .. are we not better and cheaper ..

@Mainely_Leafs To be clear not saying trading for just picks , rather young NHLers . You could turn 88 and 34 into Mctavish mintyukov Clark Byfield and that really isn’t a stretch .. add in cap savings take on a Hamilton . Deal a hildeby for Tippett and then Woll Cowan plus for Thomas ..
