APRECOM’s champions are an essential source of support. These church leaders are deeply involved in mobilising churches to reach disabled children. The APRECOM team is immensely gifted but its work is so much wider and deeper because of the churches in its network.

Inshuti Nziza clubs are safe places for children. Kids can be themselves, have fun and find support in living life with #HIV. What's more, the leaders equip children to avoid and report abuse against them. In Bukora, abuse against group members has fallen by 75% since June.

Food scarcity is becoming an ever-greater issue throughout the majority world. We've created our resource 'Let's Grow!' in response to this issue. The resource equips communities to make the most of food sources available to them and to safeguard their children's nutrition.

There is a severe shortage of anti-epilepsy medication in #Rwanda and #Zambia. This shortage affects many of the children our local partners serve. Please pray with us that children who need anti-epilepsy meds will receive them, and that supply chain problems will be resolved.

On #WorldAIDSDay we give thanks for the huge progress in reducing new infections and AIDS deaths over the last decade, and pray for the day when AIDS will be a thing of the past. #praying

Through the training, the participants have grasped that mental difficulties and witchcraft are not linked, and are committed to sharing this understanding in their churches and communities. Attitudes are changing and this will also bring change in how children are treated.

For example, one delegate at the training reported the case of an eleven year-old girl with a mental disability, fostered by her mother’s cousin, who was physically abused and thrown out of the house, because she was seen as a witch. 2/

LVLE has just delivered a training event in Sake for 40 pastors and school leaders, addressing the myth that mental illness and disability are linked to witchcraft. This matters as the idea that mental problems are caused by witchcraft underlies numerous cases of child abuse. 1/

The Inshuti Nziza Troop brings together young people affected by HIV. Many of them are from broken families and struggle with drink or drugs. But through being part of the Troop, they learn to better manage their HIV condition. #Rwanda 1/
