No other manga is held to the same ridiculous standards when it comes to side characters.
Oda and kubo are allowed to introduce characters and abandon them (rightfully so) but god forbid kishimoto doesn’t flesh out ten ten or kiba. You guys ignore every other side character.

@TickyTac It's no strawman when the point of HxH is that the world will always remain under explored. DC literally didnt exist in the story, and yet it was clear to the reader that HxH is about hunters exploring the unknown, like the Chimeras, the "world" is really an infinite void

@kelele77 Obviously as it stands it has good worldbuilding but a lot of it is not tied to the dark continent. He set it up. If it remains under explored then it’s not satisfying worldbuilding. Same if we got little of the New World or Gourmet World. You’re stawmanning.

@TickyTac "So much of HxH world" is simply unfair, because the HxH world is virtually infinite. The manga may end without showing much of the Dark continent, because "worldbuilding" is about how you present your world to the reader, not about implementing wacky concepts one after another

@GrizzFan76 Magi excels at things like the economic and international politics like no other manga and One Piece excels at the intricacies of the world itself from den den mushi, the delivery system and how certain events set up other events in unpredictable ways outside the main narrative

when i read it man it just felt like such country genuinely had a distinct culture, which i feel no other anime has really captured that. one piece feels like a change in setting but not a genuine intricate culture like magi. & it also had that mystery ‘potential’ world building feeling u mentioned with Hxh, but it actually delivered on it. i’m curious on what ur #1 is tho.
